On The War Path?

Just wondering if people think hacker activity is starting to run rampant as of late. I run a small Fansite for MMOs and i'm currently working on getting into the inner circle for SWTOR so that when it's released I can put info up. Got a message a few days ago from the person who handles messages for fansites sending out a general warning. Apparently a SWG fansite was hacked stealing several email address of people.

I don't have much to worry about since I don't deal with material requiring people to keep passwords and email address on my server. However it does make me wonder if hackers are running rampant as of late with their attacks. The warning of this attack really peaked my curiosity since our forums were hit not too long ago.

I haven't really noticed, to be honest: my sites are being hammered with attempts to login and register fake IDs (the IP addresses are the usual culprits) as well as daily scans for known vulnerabilities, but that's been going on seemingly forever; I think there's been a gradual increase over time, but nothing especially noteworthy. In fact random DDoS attacks on my hosting companies seem to have decreased somewhat after becoming pretty much a daily occurrence about a year back.

Not that it doesn't pay to be vigilant, of course.

I don't think there's more hacking going on now, just more hacking that's effecting us gamers, and of course it's more publicized.

Yeah what Fallout said. It's not that more attacks are happening it's more people being aware of them.
