The way steam cloud saves work is a fail

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 1:33 pm

Hi,

So my game crashed, went to restart it and i get a BS prompt that the steam cloud and my saves were out of sync. I told it to upload the saves and I had to wait till it was done for the game to start.

No reason why it cant sync while im playing the game...Also no reason it had to do it right then. Its stupid.

Bethesda, tell steam to stop being stupid. k thnx bye :P

That's Valve's department, not Beth's. If they had it going like that, it'd be working nonstop in game. That itself could probably cause issues.

You complaining about problem which is not even ruining your gameplay. If you can't wait for few min I suggest for you to turn off STEAM cloud sync.... :|

Yeah, turn that crap off. Only have it on if you play the same games on different PCs(like a desktop + laptop) and want to use the same save games.

Eh, it's good as a secondary backup just in case your HDD dies or something.

Turn the feature off in Steam, then you won't have to worry about it.

I've noticed a problem with the saves that occurred only recently. My daughter and I play on the same machine, but with different Windows accounts. This has worked fine until today. My daughter found my saves on her account. I had played from my own windows account.

Is the cloud save causing this? Is there a way to prevent this?

Yes, turn off the cloud. It syncs with every instance of Steam that is using your account and has the game installed. If you don't want that, then simply turn off the feature. Simple as that.
