So I got home from work today, checked my mailbox and I had this note -

Has anyone on here had something like this before (I sure as hell haven't), or has someone on here done something like this? I've told some other people about this and apparently one guy I know has mates that have done something similar, but part of me is still wary. Part of me thinks it's sweet, but another part of me feels watched lol. I have no idea who Clive is.

Back when I was a bit more shy around women, I did something very similar to that, but I used Facebook.

The person I sent it to never responded. That was when I decided to grow a pair.

I have had something similar to this happen to me before.

A year or so ago, I got a random text message from a lady saying she thought I was cute... I was wary of this since 9/10 it would probably be a friend of mine with a new number playing a prank. It turned out to be a girl who worked at Pizza hut though. Apparently she saw me when I went to pick up my pizza and made a comment about me to her manager, at which point her manager looked up my number from my order and gave it to her. I was none too pleased by that turn of events. I let her down gently and told her I wasn't interested. Needless to say, subterfuge wasn't a very impressive tactic. I like 'em bold.

At to what you should do... I don't know. I'm quite the optimist about people, but I'd be careful.

Probably just spam, the generic "same street" is something of a tip-off. Texting that number probably signs you up to some service, or at the very least gives them your number to sell on to ad companies. If you think it might be real, though, reply to the email asking which street exactly that would be.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. If this is an e-mail I'd say it is spam. I assumed she meant literal physical mail since she said "checked my mailbox." And not, "checked my e-mail."

Bleh, this is why I shouldn't browse the forums at 3am.

No, but I get added by random females on Facebook, if that counts. :shrug: I'm pretty sure it's by accident though.

Anyway, yeah I think that you're nice and all too Chineapplepunk, mostly because I'm in love with your avatar, but that's besides the point. What I was saying was, if I were you I wouldn't respond to that guy. He might be some sort of deranged lunatic. If he gets your number, he might start bothering you and stuff.

Yep, definitely a physical letter (handwritten). I've texted him now, and he seems a bit put out that I don't know who he is lol. I only know he's not my neighbour. He said he wrote to me seeing as he didn't want to just corner me on the street when I'm clearly going somewhere, and this way it would be up to me if I wanted to contact him. I'm wondering if it would be rude to ask his age - superficial of me but Clive sounds like an old guy's name. Either way, he's made my Wednesday night interesting!

What? Some random guy drops a note in the door, instead of walking up to you, going "Hi, I live just by there", and having the guts to risk a face to face rejection, gets you to text him, and he seems a bit put out.
Don't take my advice, it's always terrible, but if moving isn't an option, carry a big stick.

I must admit I got a bit tired of the "you really have no idea who I am?" texts so just said I might have an idea. I don't at all though. I tend not to pay much attention to my neighbours unless they are directly beside or below me. My phone doesn't do photos so that option's out. Boo!
