"The Whispering Door" quest. (Heavy spoilers.)

Post » Thu May 31, 2012 1:06 pm

Alright, so I'm on this quest and I want to just help the Jarl with the demon in the basemant. So now I need the key to the door. However the only solution seem to pickpocket it from the jarl or court wizard, or kill the wizard and take it. Why can't I just afk for it? He knows I'm trying to deal with this issue for him. Why would he even say no?

Me: Hey, turns out there's a demon in your basemant #$%^ing with your children. I need the key so I can go slay it.

Jarl: Oh, jeeze. Yeah, sure here you go.

Me: Cool. Back in 5.

The quest has only one available route to take, and that route makes absolutely no sense.

You should have completed the quest before commenting on whether it made sense or not. It makes perfect sense because both of them know what's behind that door and it's their duty to keep it locked away. Hint: it isn't a demon.

FYI you aren't helping by opening the door. Just saying.

First of all the only way to go about completeing the quest does make sense. No one wants the door opened and the Jarl doesn't know you're trying to get the door open, only his estranged son does. Hence why it's tucked away deep in a dark corner of the basemant and you just now heard of it It's locked for a reason and you won't find out why until you actually get it open. I just went ahead and pick pocketed the key from the wizard. Nobody saw me do it and therefore I didn't commit a crime and no one knows the difference. However, they will be upset once they realize the door has been opened. If you're worried about doing something bad, I recommend not opening the door at all. You just might not want too...

You seriously can't pickpocket something as easy as a key? It's not asking you to steal his underwear.....

Who are the easiest people to kill with the sword to recharge it? Can I kill legion troops when we are out on a raid?

Worst quest ever, Mephala's quest in Oblivion was way better.
