The White Phial. Whats the point? : V

Did the white phial quest and returned the phial to the chap in windhelm, received my reward and thats it.
Seemed a bit pointless to be honest. Is there nothing special about the phial?

Yes there is. You have to gain full access to the Throat of the World first. The 2nd part of the White Phail quest should start with a courier. I read about it, but haven't actually done the follow up quest yet.

I just wish I didn't already have a briarheart in my inventory when the second part started - my repair quest is bugged. =(

If you are high enough level, then about three days or so after you return the Phial, you can get the quest to repair it. And then it becomes pretty darn useful.

Plus getting another word for Marked for Death always helps too...

make sure to never have briar hearts in your inventory or pick them up before starting that quest once you get the letter as it will break the quest

I did the 1st part a long time ago and have full access to throat of the world. I've never had a courier come to me about anything to do with the Phial.

Are you guys sure something else doesn't trigger this quest?

Just thought of this for the briarheart bug - anyone know if eating all your briarhearts will let you get a fresh one to get back into the quest?

Regarding quest trigger, all I read about in the wiki was having TotW access and putzing about a few days. I know other quests have a levelup as a trigger to initiate a courier stage.

_{It's been a while sinse getting the 1st part of the quest. And now I've had access to the Throat of the World for some time now. Main Quest is even done already. Yet I've still not recieved anything from a courier about the Phial.}

I never got a courier when I did it. I just noticed a new option when I stopped by there to buy some potions.

Also about the Briarheart: I did have a Briarheart on me when I took the quest, but it didn't break it. I DID have to go find a new Briarheart to complete it, but it worked, nonetheless.

What's the point of the White Phial? Well... It could be the Stone to keep the "Snow Tower" (supposedly High Hrothgar) from crumbling (physically, and, even more important, symbolically) and thus the whole creation from ending and whatnot. It's far-fetched, but this could exactly be the case. So, it's preeeeetty significant?

Several aspects of the repair quest have been fixed in the latest patch. including the briarhearts issue and having other items in your inventory when you get the quest.

Cool. I'll have to go pay the dying old man another visit to see if I get the 2nd part of the quest.
