Is there any way to preview lights etc?

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 7:51 pm

Pretty simple question. A bit annoyed having to place them to see the effect.

I have searched the forum and official wiki and could not seem to find anything.

Thanks for any inuput. :)

A button switches light on/off in CK.

You can also turn on Preview Window and have it open.
Then when you browse through items in Object Window they will be displayed in that window,
so you can see their shape and other properties (so there's no need to drop objects in game world to check them).

Think he/she means if there's like a preview box before you actually place them, and I'm pretty certain there is none.

Thanks for the feedback.

To clear things up a bit;

I mean to see the effects of the lights. They appear as normal in the "Render Window" but just as lightbulbs with no effects in the "Preview Window".

For a somewhat unrelated question, is there a way change the transparency of light sources in the render window? (The thing shaped like a light bulb.) They're practically invisible to me they're so faint.

I'm afraid that to see how the lights shine the render window is the only way of preview.
In preview window you can only check what shape objects have.
You can also double click each light in object window to see what colour it has assigned and how other properties are set for it.
And you may want to deduce from those values if the light fits your needs - just a bit of practice is required ;]

the only way would be to edit that bulb model in NifSkope and alter its transparency there.
