There's no good high level light armour in this game...

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 4:12 pm

What annoys me with the light armour in this game, especially the high level stuff, is that it's so BULKY! It's meant to be light armour. My Redguard Ranger is quite slim and in the Thieves guild armour he looks ridiculous, his head is tiny in comparison to the enormous shoulder pads and ridiculous gauntlets. Same goes for Linwe's armour. The Nightingale makes you look like a gimp and the DB armour is beyond stupid, it's a PVC cat suit!

I just wish there was some awesome light armour to work towards, like the Ebony mail for heavy armour. The best armours are the low level leather, fur and scaled etc.

I wish Beth had added different armours for races. You read in the books about Argonian armour, Khajiit armour etc. I hope they add a ton more pieces in the DLC. No choice as it stands, I'm a bit of a looks freak, I know it's not much of a big deal.

I don't like any of the light armour beyond the fur, hide, scaled and leather. It's really annoying! I want to love the TG armour, it's design is awesome, but it's two times as bulky as it should be and the DB armour is 2x too skimpy.

I want to like the Nightingale, but it looks to out of place in Skyrim imo.

actually the db armor looks like the armor of an assassin. seems to fit for me.... the armor offers easy and silent movement... all you need in this dirty job

Then just smith the hell out of Leather and Fur armours, and put up with it, I guess. Enchant it if you still feel it's too weak.

Best modified DB armor. Witcher fans know what I am talking about....

I personally chose the Green one. Not skimpy either, just perfect, lot better then the default DB

My thief assassin only wears enchanted clothes now (with the Lord Stone). Loving it.

I usually stop at scaled and just improve it until it's as good as it gets.

My current character is lvl 41 and running around in scaled armor with a skyforged steel greatsword. I quite like the look.

I'm level 40 and I just run around it Flawless Leather. Works fine. Nothing else looks Rangerish enough, and the Thieves Guild Armor just doesn't go.

I'm going to try and get some fur off some bandits. I'm not really moaning, I just wish there were some high level less "fantastical" armours. Like maybe some really rare Khajjit leather, or Argonian.

Indeed. love that mod. The default Dark Brotherhood armor looked like my character was in skin tights. This armor revision is amazing, even looks better in game!

Agree with this. My girl loves that dark red/black combination, and the helm/face-cover - makes her look bad - like the assassin she is.

For girls it may look good, but it's kinda gay for male assassins.

I kind of disagree. I think alot of the light armors look good. My current character, a Bow-wielding theif uses a complete set of dragonscale armor, and it looks great. Glass, scaled and leather armors look fine too IMO. Elven armor, however, doesnt really float my boat this time around. Its just too... gold. Plus its closely associated to the Thalmor.

Id probably like Nightingale and Thieves guild armor more if i could enchant them.

I really don't care for the dragonscale armor. At least the female version, anyways. The pauldrons are very ugly. And I have other issues with it, as well.

Really all high level armor looks too flashy in my opinion. Having the Dragon Armor is nice, it looks a little more down to earth but still macho.

I'd like to see more light armors as well, I think the heavy armor users have a couple more options. And I agree some of the "light" armour looks too ridgid and bulky, like glass and elven. How about chainmail? Why was that taken out?

Thankfully though there's scale, I love that.

I don't really like the very bulky look many of the light armor styles have either. Kind of wish that clothing didnt have 0 armor rating and could be improved.

Me too. I go as far as Advanced Armor in the Smithing tree. But fur is still my favourite look, it just feels right in the games environment. Just smith the crap out of it to make it viable.

I agree. I was wearing fully smithed and enchanted glass everywhere. What drove me crazy was how LOUD it was. Yes I was muffled, so my enemies didn't hear it, but I still could. Sneaking around it sounded like a dwemer centurion stomping through a marble courtyard. Or maybe it sounded so loud because everything else was so silent. Also irritated me because I would sneak past someone and they would look at me but not see me. Being in third person drove me crazy, I know I'm sneaky, but I'm wearing shiny neon green and gold armor, how do you not see me?

Switch to nightingale armor, and since I really still wanted 1 hand enchantment I switched out the NG boots for just regular tall black boots and enchanted those w/ 1hand and muffle. Still looks great with the armor, my feet are still loud to my ears but cloth/leather on floors sounds a lot better than the glass did. Also when in the shadows I look fairly invisible so I don't get mad at the NPCs for being blind. Of course my armor rating is basically cut in half.

I really only like the stuff that doesn't look so fantastical. Thieves Guild is like a jacket and some pants, cool. Fur awesome. Leather, is really great as well and I like scaled.

For heavies I like the iron, steel, steel plate and that's about it.
