There Once Was an Ancient Dragon...

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 9:04 am

There once was an Ancient Dragon,
Who flew in the air around Alftand.
When Dovahkiin came round,
Mr. Dragon came down,
And proceeded to chew the Dovahkiin's face off.

I swear to God... if you think Dragons are underpowered, it us either because you are playing on too low a difficulty and lying about it, or you have OBVIOUSLY not faced an Ancient Dragon.

I'm level 45, 300+ health, 400+ stamina with my one handed perk tree lit up to the top (I'm dual wielding an Umbra-like sword and another ebony sword with 25 health drain), and the Nightingale Bow with my archery tree lit all the way up as well. I've felt a bit overpowered (and happily so) pretty much the entire game, playing on Adept difficulty...

Until now. Mr. Ancient Dragon has shown me the error of my arrogant ways. Do NOT run up to an Ancient Dragon expecting to dual wield his face into mush, as you have with so many dragons before. He will effing EAT you. No lie. I was FULL HEALTH, FULL STAMINA, had gotten ONE silly little swing in when all of a sudden, I lost control. I was pulling the triggers, I was shouting, but my Dovahkiin puppet did nothing I commanded him to do. It was then I realized- in the blink of a frickin eye, Mr. Ancient Dragon had picked me up in his great big, sharply-toothed mouth, and was now proceeding to shake the effing LIFE out of me. When he was done, he none-too-gently disposed of my mauled remains in a pool of my own blood, thirty or forty yards away in the snow.

Holy crap.

I loved this game before, but I've gotta say...

I never thought I could like a game more for having been eaten by a dragon. EPIC. =)

well first health should always be your highest stat, if you plan to go melee

and then i have on lvl 44
470 health, and 240 stamina

a 300dmg 2h hammer
about 700 armor

you have about 300 armor or less?

if you want to beat it on that lvl, don't ever go infront of him, go to the side
and spamm dw power attacks
take potions when on 50% life

and yeah even i was eaten by one some time ago
was running around without my helmet so just 400 armor and underestimated his execute

Yeah - its kind of funny how important wearing a helmet can be.

a lot of the issues with the difficulty settings in the game are that the default is set too low and people level conjuring, widely considered to be quite overpowered...

other issues include the classless system and armor. mages in full heavy armor enchanted for mage-specific stats AND alteration spells is a bit much imo...

under normal, default settings, dragons are easy to kill as a mage. under master difficulty, u need to watch urself and not stand infront to kill them.

300 Damage hammer? Damn. I am at level 44 and my smithing is at 100. My 2 handed and one handed are also to the top and my 2 handed damage stats for my weapon is still at about 90. What the hell am I doing wrong? PLEASE tell me. I feel like an idiot and I thought I was doing so damn good. FAIL!!! :(

Are you refering to the youtube link ?

If yes then know that I didnt even hit dmg cap on my armor.
I dont even use any stone or racial for magic/element resist. All i have is a 54% frost resist on my boots and 32% magic resist as a side effect from the destro pot I used.
Only the destro pot was min/maxed for 162% dmg buff but I could have gone with a vendor pot of 50+% or a non-exploited 100+% destro pot.
I dont have unlimited mana either only a 50% mana reduction and having 300+ mana at lvl 79.

no no don't take it "personally" i was speaking generally
the whole forum is filled with "i have maxed my 2handed tree and have gazillion points in smithing" etc
nothing wrong ,everyone enjoys the games as he prefers, but from a single player RPG(ish) game i would expect something more than "i have to max this and that to be actually proficient" and the good stuff about this game is that you can actually "beat the game" without doin the math at all

yeah I'm actually amused too to see all this rush to get the best damage ever. Sure you can get a godly 1 hand that can 1 hit k.o everything. But then what?''OMG SKYRIM IS TOO EASY,STOP DOING GAME FOR CASUALS!!'' that's what
