Hi i was just wondering if their is actually away to play the game "elderscrolls V skyrim" with out an internet connection. I know the game is not specifically online but i do know that you have to have steam in order to access an account. Well one of my friends does not have internet and hes thinking bout buying the game because he has a serously powerful pc but he kind of lives far out where internet is not a possibliy where he lives, so he wants to play the game really bad but i was wondering if any of you know if its a possilibity to play the game with out steam, or is that required.

Because it really would be a shame if this game can only be played for users that have internet cause thier are millions of users our thier with no internet. Hell even the ps3, xbox 360 versions play with no internet connection so why would the pc version be any different?

Anyways let me know if thier an alternative to playing the game on a pc, thanks!

You will need an internet connection to install the game and patches, after that you can play Skyrim by running Steam in offline mode.

So in this case wouldn't their be a way to actually download the patches using another computer, such as mine and then just storing them on a disk and transfer them to my friends pc, so he can play skyrim. Is their a separate place i can go to download the patches for the game?? He owns the game, just can't play the darn thing cause he has no internet.

Or perhaps maybe i can just use all of the installations files that i have on my computer and transfer them directly to his computer in his skyrim folder.

Nope, would still need to be activated.

Patches are only via Steam.

For offline mode to work you need log in, and (very important) check off on the "remember me" box, otherwise steam will not enter offline mode the next time steam cant find a internet connection.
Only way i see this working is if he brought his computer over to your place and >activated the game > downloaded the patches.

he would have to physically relocate his pc to an internet connection, install the game, validate, install patches and whatever mods he would like. Then he could play skyrim anywhere he could power the pc... with or without internet.

Ok that might work, he does have a friend that has internet that he has taken his computer to before. So that probably wouldn't be a problem. But my next quesiton is how do you download the latest firmware update? I even have skyrim on my pc and i know 1.4 patch is out but im still playing skyrim on the very first patch. Im not entirely sure how to update or patch it with steam and when a new patch comes out, he will want to update it as well.

Steam updates games automatically when online

If it doesn't, verifying the files usually does the trick
