Is there a way to stop horse v companion fights ?

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 12:52 pm

I have a companion and now a horse that I got given in the game. But when there is a fight with bandits or something sometimes the horse accidentally receives a hit from my companion. So after all the bandits are dead my companion and horse start to fight each other. There doesn't seem to be anyway to interact with any of them to stop fighting. So I was wondering if there is maybe a spell that might calm them both down or do I just have to do what I'm doing now and reload the game before the bandit battle and hope that the next time they don't get into a fight with each other again.

There is a "calm" spell that I suppose you could use.

But really: Save early, save often. I have some 2800 saves for one character.

So I unleashed this thread on the nightshift forum last night and as you can see I got a massive response. So I'll ask the dayshift crew if they know any better. As the bro above said a calm spell MIGHT work. But I'm wondering if anyone knows for a fact that it will. so that I don't have to waste time location the spell, then having to pick a fight with someone on the off chance that a fight might break out between horse and companion to see if the calm spell works. I have much faith in my skyrim dayshift community.

Have you tried riding it? You can cancel combat with yourself by doing so, but im not sure with compainions. That's never happened before to me.

No if I jump on the horse and ride away from my companion my companion chases after me still attacking the horse. Even if I fast travel to a new location they both start attacking each other once we all arrive there. And its not just my companion that does all the fighting the horse fights back at my companion and I can't stop any of them.

I think you might have a problem, even with the calm spell. It only calms things for a short period of time, and they will probably start up again after it wears off.

The best long-term suggestion I could give you is to dismount well away from potential fights.

There is a mod called "Cowardly Horses", that might help you with your Problem from now onward. You can find it on Skyrimnexus.
To fix the issue at the moment try and kill one of them with the KILL command and ressurect them back up(Console commands).

Agreed. Or calm spell the horse before the fight.

Best bet: save often, save early. If you're on a Windows machine there will probably be a non-fighting horse mod. Might already be.

Har, I did that with Shadowmere outside the DB sanctuary. I got tired of the damn thing fighting everything on the map. I didn't need to resurrect it though, it did that all on it's own, but at least it's stabled there forever, until I decide to use it again.

Don`t use horses?

I can`t stand being forced into 3rd person on them anyway.

Calm has worked for me in the past. Once they sheath their weapon it should reset their aggression. When the spells time out everyone is happy.

I don't use horses in the game I don't like them. It was given to me I had no choice in the matter its names shadowmere. I don't ride it but it just follows me about and then when I get attacked by bandits and dragons it just runs over to them and kicks their heads in. so not a bad thing I just wish my companion and the horse would stop trying to kill each other after every battle.

I had to stop using a mage companion because it would end up in a fight with Shadowmere every time. There is nothing you can do. the fight would go on forever if you let it. You have no choice but to reload.

I have encountered a similar problem with my dog and Belrand as well. His spells sometimes hit the dog and at the end the dog will keep attacking Belrand. There is another method which can help to settle them down:

1. Switch to first person view
2. Type "~" (without quote) to open console mode
3. Click onto the dog.
4. Type "disable" and press ENTER
5. Type "enable" and press ENTER
6. Type "~" to close console mode

The status of the dog will be reset and they will be at peace with each other again.

No need for that complicated, just open the console, click on the participants and enter command "stopcombat".

Just thought I'd let you all know how I got on with my horse v companion battles. Well I bought a calm and also the more powerful pacify spell. I then went to markarth where I have a huge bounty on my head so the guards attack me on sight. a fight broke out as intended and horse and companion joined forces and wiped out all the guards while I just stood there as a spectator as none of the guards never attacked me. But at least this gave me a chance to see what was going with my companion and horse. Well the horse received plenty of hits from my companions ice spells, so after they both killed all the guards I was ready with pacify and calm spell in hands to see if they would start the fight with each other that I was expecting to kick off. But would you believe it once all the guards were dead both my companion and horse acted like the best of friends. Well if I had the spells in my hands I may as well see if they work.and guess what both calm and pacify spells don't work on my companion or horse because there level is too high. So I don't know why I was having this problem to start with but it's sorted itself out now and I just reloaded the game back to the point before I bought the spells so that it was not a waste of money buying two spells that don't work. But thanks all for the input anyway.
