These Gargoyles then....

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 8:56 am

We saw in the Dawnguard trailer a gargoyle bursting through a big rock wall, obviously they wont be able to do that anywhere because the wall would have to be set up or something.
I thought up of a couple ways that could work.

1: They are like Druagr in a crypt and burst through when somebody walks by.

2: It happens like 2 times in a cut scene.

3: They have their own caves like dwemmer automatons/druagr and there a points in the walls where if somebody is detected on the other side they pop in to say hello.

Anybody else have any ideas? Or did I just miss some E3 or a leak that explains it?

I thought they are statues and he just happened to be near a wall. If you watch the footage he looks like he is rising from a sitting or kneeling position not coming through the wall.

yeah, the gargoyle is in a stone form at first, then it bursts out of that form like it was shown in the trailer. Watch the old cartoon gargoyles and you'll get an idea of how they might work in dawnguard. This is all speculation of course...

They seem to look like more jumpscare enemies. Maybe Dawnguard has an horror theme?

Seems to me they work like Spriggans. But instead of hiding in, & on trees. They hide in, & on walls.

As a side note, I'm personally not thrilled by the idea of 'gargoyles'.

Well Skyrim does need a bit more of a Scary element to the game, that's if not all the Gargoyles are alive and you can't tell the difference, while at the same time they can easily kill you :D

Well too bad, they have been in the elder scrolls since daggerfall.

If there aren't mithril weapons, which by lore (scuse the pun) are required to kill Gargoyles I'm gonna be mad :swear:

Yeah Dawnstar was a mobile game and it had that type of enemy in it

it's probably just extinct now like a lot of other "disappearing" specie in Skyrim

I do know that Vampire Lords can summon Gargoyles, but I kinda hope they are a threat also so I can fight them with my VL profile instead of waiting to play as my Dawnguard characer.

I wonder if VL can have ice troll companions to?

Why not you know they was in Daggerfall right?

OP I think it makes more sense like its explained here that they burst out of their stone form I guess you can say.
