They don't like TES!

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 2:17 pm

I don't know anyone who is into the Elder Scrolls games.
My only outlet for my enthusiasm is this forum... (I can't believe I spelled enthusiasm right!)
What's a singular individual like me to do? I want to talk Skyrim around the water-cooler but it's surrounded by football fans.
Forlorn and dejected, I am seeking a place where I can find a like~minded community (Not online) that I can converse intelligently 'bout Skyrim?
Are there places in teh states where we can meet the like-minded Scroll's fans???

Get a new job where people play games.
One of my managers said she just got a new Dance game, and she'd only play it for about a week. I realized that after that week of playing is up, Skyrim will have been released. So we started talking about Skyrim and TES since there were no customers around.

Here in Brazil there's only a chosen few who devote themselves to the elder scrolls. I'll never find a soul that has ever played Oblivion, let alone Morrowind.
You're lucky that games exist in your country.

On a computers course in college with a bunch of guys (literally... :( lucky if there is even 1 girl in the computer classes...) who fell in love with programming and computers because of games ?

Yup, I can find a TES fan or two.

My brother and my son. That's about it.
Never met anyone else...I've struck up conversations with strangers in the gaming section of different stores...and they look at me like I'm from a different planet.
[I should add that in a couple instances, I was recommending the series because Oblivion was there on the shelves]

I suppose you could get a job in a shop that sells video games, chances are you'll find some fans there (although that might be a step down from your current job for all I know).
Or if there's a midnight release in your area, go and get chatting!
As it is, I only know a handful of people who game, and even less are into TES (although I do wonder if one of them is on this forum sometimes...). It doesn't bother me really, I just get my TES-talk out of the way on these forums. :)

Just about all of my best friends are excited for Skyrim, a lot of them love oblivion. And some go all the way back to Morrowind (we started playing at about the same time).

It's been my experience that to turn others onto what you enjoy, you must also take an interest in what they enjoy.
Sports are usually a safe fallback topic for discussion, not as heated as politcs or religion.
Gaming stores, flea markets and bazaars are good places to meet TES friendly people. Don't, however, discount those around the water cooler who have not yet been exposed to the wonder that is TES. Just because someone dosent appreciate the things you do does not mean they are not worth talking to.

Nobody I know likes TES either, but then I don't really hang out with nerd/geek/stereotypes. No offense, that's just the truth of it.

I've met very very few people in real life who like TES games, or even RPGs. Like it or not they're still niche.

My brother is the only person I know that likes TES. I have many friends who play video games, but their the, "Yeah! Just prestiged to level 21 in COD!" types so I can't really relate to them when it comes to video games.

I know of one buddy from one of my classes who is counting down with me to 11-11 with both of us discussing it on occasion so yes it's nice when you have someone to talk to about your favorite hobbies or interests. Though most people whom I met to play games are into clone shooters that bore me with the likes of COD, GOW, and the like.

Give it a month or two however and Skyrim will I imagine be more popularly discussed as word of mouth helps spread the word around. As it stands however the RPG genre is still rather small in comparison to the FPS though Skyrim might introduce many to RPGs though.

Any miniature/RPG/Comicbook store. Anywhere. That is where the nerds congregate.

I overheard a few people talking about Skyrim a while back and all, but they were noobs and were clueless about everything on the TES series. :sadvaultboy:

But, yeah, your local game store. And I wouldn't blame your friends/family for not liking the TES series.

I don't like TES either. It's not like it's the most mainstream game ever made or anything, of course there's people who haven't heard of it,

I recently found out two coworkers who knew what the hell I was talking about. I've been working with them a few years but only recently have we opened up on the subject because of Skyrim release. Funny. Well, we don't work in the same department, so our conversations for years has been light.

When I reserved my CE box of Skyrim, put my name on it for 11-11*, another coworker ask what game it was. I asked if he knew about Oblivion. Yes, he heard. Told him it was the next chapter and sounded interested. But he's not the RPG kind of guy, but who knows... maybe I opened up some possibilities for him.

* for those wondering, I'll probably be the only one who buys the CE in my city, so no customer will be offended, as we have a few other boxes.

Burn them in a cauldron and then hope your employer hires people who enjoy TES. If not? Rinse and repeat.

I don't really know anyone who plays TES. Most of my classmates have heard of TES (Likely because of Skyrim news and adverts, or me mentioning "It's x days away!"), but no one plays it. I don't know anyone in real life that has played Morrowind. :sadvaultboy:

I can't decide what makes me more unhappy: When I tell people that I play PC games mostly, they ask if I play WoW, or that I don't know anyone that plays TES.

I have heard some people talking about Fallout at school, so at least one Bethesda series is known here.

The only other TES fan I know besides my friends and brother is my dad, he introduced me to Morrowind (and TES) in 2002 at the age of seven :D
