Good luck.

Still kinda bitter that I could not play a Thief character according to character without dying 1,000 deaths by level 9.

I started a thief character, now at I think level 15. More of the leveling came from pickpocket and sneak than combat skills, so I really get roasted toe-to-toe, but that's to be expected right? Stealth builds rely on being stealthy. Use sneak attacks and poisons. When your pickpocket is high enough get the perks to steal equipped weapons and armor. Get all the backstab perks as your sneak becomes high enough.

Two daggers in the back at 15x damage to an NPC with no armor should hurt. Or use poisons of paralysis on arrows, then close the gap while they're down and take them out. Or shoot an arrow/use Throw Voice to distract them, then run by while they've got their backs turned.

Edit: atrocious grammar

I can handle NPCs. I'm talking about crazy war hammer wielding bruts and higher level mages. Poison arrows and daggers just pissed them all off and made them kill me harder. Sneaking is all good and wonderful if you want to be a wuss, but I really wanted to defend myself and level those skills and just couldn't.

I have a level 34 archer/rogue. Most of my perks are in archery and sneak is almost maxed. I one shot allot of stuff with archery. I have one perk for better one handers and duel weapon speed increase. I do just fine. In fact I one shot a spider boss. Which was kind of disappointing.

my thief is only 20 right now but the finished product should look something like this: http://www.ign.com/builds/the-elder-scrolls-5-skyrim/create?d=000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000050001110011110100000000000000000000000000000000000000005111122000000000001100005100001100000000000051011111
(how do i replace the link with text?)

i haven't chosen which side of the smithing tree to go down, but i might actually take the right path for a daedric bow. i know i will eventually stick with glass armor in the end. I have found lockpicking incredibly easy with a little patience so i avoided that tree altogether.
