Thieves Guild - 125 Side Jobs

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 8:44 am

I'm currently sitting at 17 done and I'm trying to mull my way to get the special safe. It's not hard, but it's extremely monotonous and time consuming. I also don't like the fact that my quest log is going to have 125 repeat quests listed, which will cause me to have to scroll through all of them if I want to look at what quests I've completed.

So... how many people have actually done 125 jobs to get the safe? At what point do you think I'll start to lose my sanity in trying?

Usually after I've done enough jobs to become Guild Master.

I just wish I knew what they were thinking. These games are packed with interesting quests. Why did they feel the next to make people grind to such a ridiculous number just to get the safe? If the quests were truly free-form, like you robbed random houses and turned in the loot, I could understand. But having to go through so many loading screens just to turn in the quests and get new quests makes it a pain.

The completionist in me compels me? It'll be nice to have the Thieves Guild fully upgraded. But you do have a point. I may stop at 75 once I unlock the last treasure for the treasure cabinet.

I did it. The most maddening aspect of it is you don't get the Jeweled Pitcher at 75 jobs. Madness.

Why is it still being reported on various sites that you do?

Yes, and it's entirely possible to do everything in the game. However, I'm only at 47 side jobs done. I'm going to take a break to get something to eat, but then I'll get back at it. Things should go faster now, as I've done all of the city influence quests and the side-quests for the other members as well.

Because you're supposed to. It's glitched though, so it doesn't always appear.

I only did enough jobs to get that golden ship model after only 25 jobs. I have completed everything else in the theives guild as i have the special guidmaster chest.

My thief-tank has about 30 done. She's on vacation right now, though. I'll probably go back to her when I'm done with my Altmer mage, but that could take a while. I don't know if she'll do all of them, but it's a tentative goal.

I respect your dedication, but these games are too bugged to successfully follow through with it without trial and error. One game breaking bug, and your screwed. It could happen at any time from "any" quest. To this day Oblivion needs the unofficial patch in order to run properly.

I hear you. I wanted to be sure myself, so I played nearly non-stop. I just hit 75 jobs completed and it did not appear. That really svcks. I've only been doing heist and fishing jobs, so I'm going to load up a save at 69 jobs done and do the other five types of jobs. Perhaps the diversity will help. Hope it does.

Edit: I spent eight hours doing those 75+ side jobs, in addition to city influence and other jobs. And this little thing was enough to make me re-load an earlier save and decide not to join the Thieves Guild. Well, that, and I didn't like having 125 different instances of "The 'X' Job" in my quest log. It's things like this that make me lose heart, but I should be able to soldier on.
