Vex has asked be to do a Burglary Job in Whiterun: Retrieve the Jeweled Goblet from Heimskr's House.

When I go to my journal (with that Misc Quest selected), the 'M Show on Map' is greyed out. When I go to Whiterun, the house is in ruins after the Civil War, but Heimskr is still ranting and raving on his platform in the square.

What gives? Is this a bug or is Vex just out of touch with the current events in Skyrim? The Civil War has been over for some time, but there is still debris around the south side of the square.

Any suggestions?

I'd abandon it and pick up another one.

I had a numbers job with an arrow on a book I couldn't activate for the quest.

Thats a fairly common issue with Heimskrs house. Just go back and get a new job.

Going back to Vex seems like a real bummer. I have to take a bunch of crap from her about not completing a job when in the first place it was an undoable assignment. Where is the honor among thieves? This should be fixed.

Or maybe you could take a look in Heimskr's pup tent. It's between his soapbox and Jorrvaskr. I suspect the radiant quest thingy bugged on you. I've never had an assignment to his house. It's like two days ago when Farkas suddenly hears about dragons and wants to kill one. Really, Farkas? The next day it's Vilkas' turn. Yesterday he asked again. I rolled my eyes and we went... and there was no dragon.
