Thieves guild extra work is beyond tedious.

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 11:20 pm

So here was me thinking that once I'd completed the main thieves guild quest line...I was done! Nope, to get the boss armour, achievement and become master of the TG. You need to do 5 misc quests in 4 different holds and then a special quest in each one after the 5.

I can see why beth did this...to a point. But come on now! I am literally ready to drown myself in the sink if I have to forge any more books, or steal a golden ship from a house again. I have been grinding for two days trying to finish these off, so I can move on. They're never ending!

Word of advice for those of you who haven't started the TG. Try and balance in doing main jobs and misc jobs at the same time. It will be much more painless, I didn't do any.

I loved the actual quest line, but the outside jobs are awful!

I've done this twice, well in the second one. The first time I just did the TG chain. And yes, slightly painful. This time around I'm spreading out my quests. I actually just did a special job for one hold and I haven't even done the nightingale quest yet.

You can talk to the quest giver, tell them you don't want to do it, then choose another quest, which will hopefully be in a city you need.

I normally don't use fast travel, but I am for this, just to crack it out. I'm one of those people who likes to chalk quests off and move on methodically. I can't just leave them there unfinished.

More a word of warning, with some venting attached. all in all you have to complete 24 mind numbing "mini quests" just to finish up.

I like the fact that the more you do, the bigger the guild gets. Eventually you will have new vendors down there due to your "tedious" work.

I've only completed the Whiterun job but I'm finding them fun enough because I always different kind of jobs.

P.S: This should be in the spolers session.

I've done that, but it's still 24 quests you need to do, to complete it.

Ive started with the TG with a new thief/archer character to build up on sneak/archery/pickpocket and so on, Riften & that guild are great I think for pushing your stats, lots of things to find ... personally I found this guild to be very flexible, esp the option to turn a job down and pick others.

Im enjoying it myself TBH.

Oh, I didn't mean to say it wouldn't be tedious. Just less so!

I havent done any misc. quests yet just the main TG stuff in order to get my "Batman Armor" which is too awesome looking for words, but in doing that it seems like I've been questing for them for quite a while. Maybe because they send you all over the friggin map

Its not that difficult if you switch out jobs in cities you've already done/don't need. I always did fishing and burglary jobs, seemed to go the fastest. If possible, also try to get both jobs in the same hold before you head out.

I think its good becuase you get to go all over the map too, and lets face it, isn't any work a little tedious in real life? Even thief's must get ticked off with the dayjob sometimes :)

24?! Daaamit... I've done the same thing as you leaving them til last and I'm finding it a bit tedious (I do like the pickpocketing jobs though).

I just get two quests to do when I am in Riften anyway, and I do them when I am in the target town anyway. Otherwise it is: Go to Riften, go to Ratway, go to RF, get quest, go to Ratway, go to Riften, go to Solitude, go into house, do job, go to Solitude, go to Riften, go to Ratway, go to RF, go to Ratway, go to Riften, done. That is 13 loading screens for a quest that takes three minutes to finish. You have to be a complete masochist to do it that way.

Are you actually going through the ratway to get to the guild?

I have started doing 2 quests in each hold at a time and it's been ok. I am one quest in Windhelm away from my final "special" quest and then I AM DONE!

The actual storyline is really well done imo. I just think they went about ott on the outside quests.

Going through the cistern doesn't cut the number of loading screens.

The only thing I hate is that you have to keep the armour you get at the start.

Well I don't normally notice the loading screens, they last no more then 2 seconds for me, sometimes I don't even have a chance to play with the loading images. I guess if they were longer then a couple seconds it could get annoying. But regardless of the loading screens, it would still be a longer route to the guild on top of the loading screens.

Thieves guild was the best guild by a mile. You build the guild into a powerhouse, actually see new members, get a ton if vendors with piles of gold to buy your stuff, get some new fences in other cities and feel accomplished, like you deserve to be leader.

Then after your done and you walk through the flaggon admiring what you've done and Dirge threatens to kill you if your cause trouble and the bartender asks if your the new protege *face palm*
