So, the last thieves guild quest I remember doing was the one where you burn down the bee hives. Now I can't find Brynjolf. I don't want to do the side quests with Vex and the other guy I just want to finish the main thieves guild quests but don't know where to go to continue them. The only quest I see open that might be a thieves guild quest is the "No Stone Unturned" quest and I REALLY don't want to go find the other 23 jewels. How do I just continue the main quests? Try waiting around for Brynjolf , he may be in either area of the TG . You did finish the quest right ? You went inside the estate and got the info from the safe ?
The side quests for Vex and Delvin are important if you want the trophy for becoming guildmaster . You need to do enough of them to get offered a final mission in each of the 5 ( 4? ) holds . I think you need to do 5 of the boring smaller ones in each city to get offered the final one . An added bonus of completing them is additional vendors inside the TG , and Tonilla and the fence at the meadery will each have 4,000 gold for bartering purposes .

Yes. I did sneak into the estates and pick the safe and steal the letter and took it back to Brynjolf and completed the quest. Before the mission he also introduced me to that stuck up guy that saying he's really busy =P I don't know if the new guy (Mercer Fray) Is now in charge of issuing the quests? Idk, I guess I'll keep looking for Brynjolf right? Is he in charge if issuing the quests throughout the whole thieves guild missions?

You need to go see Maven Blackbriar , she's usually upstairs in the Bee and Barb .
If not , she's either wandering the streets or at the brewery .

You should have got the quest from Brynjolf when you turned in the last one , the one you should be on now is called Dampened Spirits .

If all is good you have been told in a dialogue to go see Maven. She won't appear on your compass because the quest has - indeed - not started yet.
Go find Maven and probably all will be fine!

Omg! Now my problem is that I can't find Maven! I seriously spent an hour and a half just looking for her. I checked the motel (Barb and Bee or whatever it's called) I checked the meadery, I checked the market and all around Riften and I checked the Black Briar Manor... Omg. Is my game glitched!?

Maven is usually found upstairs in the boozer on the corner. She sits in a sort of alcove in the corridor not in one of the rooms. If you have been told to go and see her by the Glaswegian idiot in the Thieves Guild the quest marker will take you to her.

Ok, I'm pretty sure my game is glitched. I found Brynjolf. It seems he's stuck in the Riften market where I met him but when I talk to him to try to start Dampened Spirits he just tells me that he's busy. Omg, how do I start Dampened Spirits =(

Same thing happened to me. I am on PS3 and i completed the quest and everything but i didn't get Dampened Spirits. Like AlexDemoted, I also can 't find Mave Blackbriar. Please help!

Ok, I've seriously been researching this ALL day. It's funny that this news I found was just posted today. It turns out that it is a glitch. After you finish the beehive mission it is suppose to automatically start with talking to Maven. If has been addressed and it looks like the patch is going to be released hopefully in about a week and a half. Here's the article if anyone's interested. Thanks for all the help guys!

Unfortunately I don't think it will fix already broken quests , it will probably just keep them from breaking in the first place . If you guys have a save from before you finished the beehive quest , I would reload it and do other stuff till the patch comes out .

Hey guys I've dealt with this before and know all about it. First off when having the byrnjolf glitch where he'd stuck in the market you can get him to go where he needs to be by starting a fight, so just attack someone there then leave or spend a night in jail then when you come out he'll be in the cistern.

With the dampened spirits glitch it's because you broke into the brewery or something like that. It causes the quest to never start when told by brynjolf to speak to maven. There will be a fix in the next patch but you should return to a save before you turn in loud and clear. It's highly unlikely that the patch will just start dampened souls. I just stopped at the point where you burn the hives so when the patch is released I'll burn the hives then go turn in the quest and dampened will start.

I was very upset that I couldn't proceed with the thieves guild because of this. I tried everything under the sun to get around it but thankfully now the new patch will fix it. Also while your waiting for the patch do not do any other side quests for them. Just leave it alone until next week. I say this because the guild is full of bugs and ends up in a broken quest line about 50% of the time.

So my game is ruined and I wasted 50 hours of my life. Fantastic to know...

I have no saves before Goldenglow Estates. So I'm screwed?

All you need is a save anytime before it handed in loud and clear. Why? Because when you hand in loud and clear the quest dampened spirits is not starting. Most people on here will tell you that most likely a patch won't fix the quest after its turned in. For example if you turned it in and dampened did not start then when a patch comes out it probably isn't just gonna pop up in the menu for you to speak to maven. If you have a save before you turned it in then post patch you'll probably go turn it in and the next quest will start properly from that point. Think of it this way. Say they fix the issue where you can accidentally sell your thieves guild armor before your done the guild and you can't proceed with the guild. If you already sold the armor then when the patch comes out its probably not just gonna appear back in your inventory. Most likely if you didn't sell it the patch will probably make it so you can no longer accidentally sell it. It will probably say something like 'you cannot sell quest items'.

So ya its unfortunate but you'll most problems aren't gonna just fix themselves after the fact. You're gonna need to make sure you have a save before the problem pops up.

Right now I go to byrnjolf it pops up that I completed loud and clear but dampened spirits never starts. After I download 1.4 it's should make it so my quest will start now. I will be shocked if it does work the other way around. They just want to fix it from happening in the future not from happening after the damage is already done.
