things missing from the new fallout games

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:08 pm

two things are missing from fo3 and fonv that we had in the rest of the fallout series

first of all the ability to target specific body parts in melee and unarmed vats.

secondly the ability to target the groin and eye regions

if anyone knows where i can find mods to fix these fatal flaws please point me in the right direction

note to Bethesda you need to patch these bugs. they are game breaking it almost feels like playing it right after it was released all over again

As Much as I'd Like it as well, I think its hard coded in to the Model format (nif) As far as I can tell with the amount of modeling I have done.

Id hardly call those "Game Breaking Bugs", removing groin and eye shots is just a weak design choice to please the easily offended sorts. You'll learn to live without them, one day at a time... :sadvaultboy:

What makes you say that, other than some sort of "Oh, it's PC gone mad!" lazy thinking?
Eye shots were a serious problem in the original games- they were the optimal shot, you never took any other if you had a decent chance to hit.Their removal was by no means 'weak' design, far from it. F3/NV rebalanced the locational damage to try and make every location viable- you have a tradeoff of where you shoot with what you want to achieve. Headshots do some more damage, but equally against deathclaws etc. you may well be better off shooting the legs to slow them down- but either is a valid choice. Armshots are more effective at reducing ranged enemies' threat than headshots, but again neither is vastly better than the other. As for groin shots, torso shots achieve the same 'momentary stun' effect that groin shots gave.

I think i left out "in my opinion", near the end, which wasn't all that serious really.
Perhaps its as you say, but it seems like a lot of people miss them, not as an effective killing technique, but for the comic relief factor.
Id prefer they stayed, even if they were made to hold no real value in combat other than visual gratification and a laugh.

Last time I played I could target different body parts with melee weapons, just not with unarmed weapons.
