I'll prolly get shouted at for saying this... combat.
I think the combat in 1st person feels awesome.
I always thought of western medieval melee combat as being a rather inelegant, brutal affair.
Big heavy weapons clashing off each other and smashing (even the swords) into armour, hard brutal crushing blows.
You just sort of slash and smash the heck out of each other until somebody drops, it's quick, it's messy and it's desperate.
I love how chaotic my screen looks when fighting multiple opponents in 1st person while still maintaining my focus on what's actually going on.
I love coming around a corner or w/e and 5 dudes spot you, stand up and draw their weapons in unison, the sound of my own sword leaving the sheathe, the rush as we close the distance to each other and the glorious maelstrom of hacking and slashing that ensues.
Heads rolling and taunts and shouts filling the air.
The game mixes it up really nice, so if you fight 5 guys, one will go down in two quick strikes, the other gets his head chopped off in one, the next goes down with a killcam showing you impaling him through the back and so on.
The variety is added to now we're able to ride a horse into those 5 guys and dispatch a couple before dismounting and getting up close and personal.
I love the circling and testing in a one on one fight, the little pauses in the action as the opponent seems to be looking for opening.
The little animations enemies have like banging the sword and shield together as a sort of taunt (I wish I could do that).
So yeah, I think they did a great job on the combat, I certainly enjoy it a lot.
