Things you JUST found?

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 11:05 pm

Just yesterday, I was running around doing some of my miscellaneous quests with my main, Bovkin. I've played on him for over 80 hours and I just found the Meridia's shrine quest. Honestly, one of the most fun quests in the game. The enemys you fight in the dungeon look awesome, and the final boss actually killed me(once)

So, what new things have you all found after playing the game for several hours?

That Bethesda is re-writing their lore and have finally decided to make Daedra princes and princesses instead of them all being one gender generic group of beings (dont believe me Riften orphanage theres a book beside the bed in the 1st room you see upon entering (raises pick pocket)

After playing Morrowind, Oblivion, and now Skyrim to lvl 26, I just now for the first time stumbled upon Azura's Shrine!

Also, met M'aiq for the first time ever about two weeks ago...

LOL the boss of meridias quest is one of those uber ice magic users. I remember charging into the final room, and then getting pelted back put again by a giant icicle.

Started the dark brotherhood today, loving it so far :D

They arrived with patch 1.5 along with the archery and magic killcams. I haven't had any hand to hand killcams yet but they look awesome.

After 180 hours I'm still finding plenty of fun quests. Even though I met Astrid very early on, it's only recently that I went down the path of the Dark Brotherhood Quest, and it's been great, even though my character isn't too happy about assassinations.

I've also obviously only met Shadowmere for the first time, and appreciated the usefulness of Horses to get about the place when you don't feel like Fast Travel.

But finally, I've just heightened my respect for the Whiterun Guards. I got into a spot of bother with them and ran off towards Jorrvaskr. When the Companions started to appear I thought, "This'll teach those guards a thing or two", but was amazed to see three Companions die and only one Whiterun Guard fall. (I was tempted to carry on after taking Skor's armour, but decided to reload.)

"Found" as in "found out", you can block Shouts with wards  I've seen Draugr do it who knows how often, but only now i figured out it works for me, too

Oh well, for every situation there is a fitting simpson quote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcGQpjCztgA :hehe:

I was just about to close this tab until I saw the words "Simpson's quote."

On my 4th playthrough--

- just got my first magic duel (Lydia joined in, the guy got really pissed and sarcastic with her, lol)

- got that little amulet of talos quest in Solitude, unfortunately I looted Uncle Roggvir first, and the journal won't clear...

- and I'm posting here so I can keep track of this

Oh crap, is that what it is, a glitch?

I actually watched the execution this time, I usually don't, and went around to talk to the other people afterwards. Then went to talk to the headsman, and while I was up there I saw the option to search Roggvir, and I thought WTH. Took the amulet and knew there was some quest involved with it, later I talked to the kid and then got the quest to talk to her mother which I did. But I still have a thing in my journal saying I need to do it, just noticed it this weekend. Is it because I had my own amulet of Talos in my inventory at the same time? The game seemed to merge the two into one, I couldn't drop or store my own either until I finished with Roggvir's. I gave it to the woman and now IIRC I can do what I like with my own amulet, but the quest involving the other never updated.

I should check to see if I can clear it via console.

Well that was my first amulet of talos for this character, so I don't think having one already will screw it up. It went along fine, all the correct dialog, she agreed to go to the temple etc. etc., but I still have the amulet and I don't think I got a reward from her (no text appeared on-screen in upper left).
I don't mind really, I like having the amulet, just one of those things I guess.

I usually don't watch the execution either, lol, ew.

Seriously? M'aiq is a stalker in all of my games. He shows up everywhere, and is very likely to experience an unfortunate accident soon.

I had of course noticed many times what happens to a fallen enemy if you let loose one too many firebolts (they go sailing across the room), but just a few days ago i accidently shot a firebolt at the remains of a dragon I had just looted and was indeed pleasantly surprised. The entire skelton went flying several miles across the valley. It looks so cool that I can't help myself anymore...it's just such a fitting ending :).

My character's pants...

Seriously. I exited the Falkreath Sanctuary and a pair of Fine Clothes dropped to the ground right in front of me. There was no corpse in them, just some folded Fine Clothes like you'd find folded in one of the Wardrobes...

Anise's Cabin. Third character, nearly 400 hours of Skyrim in total, countless trips to/around Riverwood, and just now found it. And Anise is already dead because she was getting attacked by wolves when Malicia and Faendal discovered the cabin. Haven't explored it yet, though. Stupid dragon attacked Riverwood and they forgot to go back and check out the cabin after. Malicia will be going back to visit Faendal again soon, though, so she'll check it out then.

The Fort Neugrad treasure map. Usually the Civil War quests are just hack and slash for me; I rarely pause to pick up loot. Went up to the roof this time, found the map, and (also a first) actually used a treasure map to find hidden treasure. The cache was so-so, but the search was fresh and enjoyable.

I was trying to get Jordis past this swinging-gate trap. She kept stepping on the pressure plate and getting downed to one knee. So I healed her, then fus-ro-dah'd her, intending for her to fly across the gap to the other side. She went flying alright. But she still hit the pressure plate in mid-air somehow, and the gate batted her like a line drive, right over my head. I laughed for about 5 minutes straight, so hard my sides hurt.

The only thing I can say is, I can't believe it wasn't Lydia. :P
