Things you wish you knew in your first playthrough

Especially considering that:

- The Priest Masks can be duplicated at any mannequin.
- Typical dungeon grinding can make you a millionaire.
- Unique objects are... unique.

I didnt read a certain quest and sold an item without equipping it. It cost me the daedra trophy and I had to start a new charater.

I also listen more closely to what everyone around me says. Didnt really do that first time around.

For daedra quests, you only have to possess the item, you never have to equip it

You don't like any of them? :o

Some of them are pretty tough...especially if people don't do the Enchanting route. Personally, I do Enchanting, but I definitely use the Vokun one until I get Fortify Carry Weight and Waterbreathing Enchants. :P They are cool-ass trophies though - Bethesda should code a rack for them similar to the Bobble head stand in Fallout 3.

Some are okay, sure. But I just don't like the idea of covering up everything on my character.

I wish they had a mask stand in a house, that would be cool. And one for all the claws.

My biggest complaint about the masks is that some are Heavy and some are Light so it messes up the Well Fitted/Custom Fit perks.

On my Heavy Armor character (Daedric) I usu don't wear the helmet unless I'm fighting because it covers the face and doesn't seem polite when talking to NPCs and/or running around in towns/villages. The Dragon Priest masks look kinda' like burial masks, satanic ritual masks (probably kinda' what the Dragon Priests did), or S&M gear.

Yes, a Dragon Claw, stand would be nice too. :o

my 1st character was a test character, so that I could learn any new mechnic's and figure out anything different. I did make mistakes and broke a couple quest's, but all in all it didn't really matter.

If it's electronic, I deal with it. My husband doesn't even check e-mail's. If he want's info off the computer, he stand's over my shoulder and look's while I pull it up.

WEll, you could always put the dragon priests masks on regular armour stands, and manually place the dragon claws, although I usually sold these or threw em away.

Also, I readily accept that after a while, in any fantasy rpg, you will not see your character because your armour is so over the top. Which is why I never go in depth with character creator, just pick one of the presets and get out.

Although it appears to do it, the smithing tree DOES NOT form a circle.

^ This. My 1st character perked the light side of the tree. I thought once I got dragon armor I could continue "down" the heavy side. Nope. Not a big deal, just annoying.

Yeah, I but I tend to put trophy armor on my mannequins - like Gaius Maro's Penitus Oculatus armor. We should be able to buy or find a miniature version of the dragon priest 'group photo' stand that I've seen in the loading screens. :P

The Claws I have just kinda' set around in various houses.

I didn't know that maces were 'One-Handed' until embarrasingly long in. I was stuck in OB's blunt and bladed weapons mentality.

I didn't realize that you could go underwater and explore. I went though a couple places that I could have done that if I had know.

Oh, damn. That's a lot of wasted perks. I never actually 'viewed' it as a circle, but since both the Light and Heavy Dragon armor are the same perk that could add to the confusion. <_<

I wish I knew that mage armor and ebony flesh svcked and I wish I had known that robes in this game were going to be lackluster. Had I known I would have invested more in smithing. Also I wouldn't have taken the bonus perks for damage in Ice and Fire. I should have just stuck with lighting.

Oh and had I known how weak conjured weapons were compared to smithed ones I wouldn't have taken that first perk to buff their damage in the conjuration tree.

Those look like they were taken in Ilinalta's Deep.

The Bound weapons are pretty poor next to smithed stuff, but in trade you can get them pretty much right off the bat while the good crafts take a while to come by. I still use them, though, because my Conjurers don't carry physical weapons. Then again, said weapons aren't their main means of combat anyway, so don't need to be smithed to insane levels.

If there's one thing I wish I had known ahead of time, it would probably be that fully investing in most perk trees is a complete waste. Ended up restarting my first character four times due to wasted perks (I'm fussy that way) thanks to that.

Well I knew this from Morrowind, so I'll tell you from my first playthrough in Morrowind which I nearly threw away. I picked up every piece of junk I saw. My inventory got full. And I'm like what the hell do I do with all this crap? No one wants it. Then I'm dumpster diving and I get killed by a mud crab. Two hrs worth of this down the drain. Then I bought the strategy guide. Okay so THIS is how you do it.

A friend of mine played Fallout 3 and got frustrated with an inventory full of empty nuka cola bottles, rusty tin cans, broken plates, you get the picture. You don't have to pick that crap up. It's litter.

So Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout NV for me I didn't do those things. But in Skyrim, I wish I'd known that the Companion quest line was bugged before I'd gone too far in the first time. This last time I knew which quests were bugged and just avoided them. Like Forsworn Conspiracy. Companions past the werewolf stage.

I would have taken the Masque of Clavicus Vile instead of the Rueful Axe had I known the Axe didn't count as a deadric artifact.
How the hell are we supposed to know that?

I also would have waited 6 months to play the game if I knew it was this messed up.

I've heard people mention this quest, but I've never come across it.

You didn't do Arniel's Endevor? Good quest. You should do it. The reward is pretty cool too.

Well, being a TES player, and although Skyrim had a different skill set and the perk system, there's really not much I would have done differently. The ONLY think I had an issue with was that I couldn't shout, even so I had dragon souls! I had to check the forums to see that I had to UNLOCK the shouts... that was my biggest DUH moment LOL

I did play my very first Breton character to level 10, before I deleted her and started a True Daughter of Skyrim! I wanted to experience the "nordish" side first!

Well ok, there is one other thing. I would have never picked up those stupid Bard instruments, if I had known they were bugged... LOL
