I think I may be burned out; what's something that's always

Post » Thu Jul 05, 2012 9:49 am

I feel like I'm playing too much Skyrim and running out of things to do. All locations explored, all major quests done, etc.

Short of taking a break, what are some things worth trying that you find to always be fun?

Edited for typos.

Have you tried making a different type of character?
  • Khajjit Monk
  • Werewolf-only
  • Healer (only use restoration)
Those types of things :)

Kill every one who isn't essential in Whiterun or any other town/city and see how the Jarl reacts.

He'll just attack if he sees you. Is that a spoiler or a spoiler that isn't one?

Nah, I've gone on rampages before. They aren't that appealing, for some reason. I enjoyed it more in Oblivion, when I could test out custom spells.

Not if you pay your fine. Then he/she will totally be cool with how you senselessly slaughtered a third of the city's population. ;)

As I mentioned in another thread, making up fun little missions for myself, like assaulting the Thalmor Embassy, are great. But I can't think of more non-quest adventures like that to take on.

Whirlwind sprinting off high hrothgar or shouting Lydia off it is usually some fun for me the first couple times, seeing how many times your body smashes off rocks

I think you're kind of out of line, talking about his personal life, joke or not.

I'm highly agreeing. Besides, we nerds rule the world.

Yes, I'm mainly joking about the nerd part...

I'm not crying, there's just a little bit of dust in my eyes

For your information there's an inflammation in my tear gland

Yeah, at first I thought you were talking about things to do other than Skyrim.

Make a new character with serious house rules and heavy restrictions. Like an archer, but you can't ever use a bow higher than the standard Longbow, no arrows above Steel, your backup weapon is a sword but no shield and you can't carry more than 3 different types of potion at any one time and no more than, say, 5 of each of those 3 types.

Or just stop playing. If you're burned out you're burned out. I played WoW for 16 hours a day for 3 and a half years. I had mega burnout. I quit in 2009 and haven't been tempted to go back since.

I thought I was burned out after one month of Skyrim. Really, I was just lured back into Minecraft. I hadn't done half of what the game had to offer. I just came back to it at the end of the school year and realized how stupid I had been. The only character I had created was a "jack of all trades, master of none" Imperial. I powerleveled smithing, got some daedric stuff, finished Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild and decided I had done it all. Now I'm back into it and I don't play anything else. So there's an interesting anecdote for you.
