Third interview

Post » Wed Nov 30, 2011 2:02 am

I applied at a fancy suites hotel a couple months ago down where I am going to school, and I have now been scheduled my third interview. I have never had this happen to me before, but I am hoping after this one, I will get the job. If I go there, have the third interview, and don't get the job, I swear something or someone is going to go flying out a window.

My question is, have any of you had to go through such a long period of time, or have had your patience tested to get a job? How far were you willing to go? Should I just give up if they schedule another interview? Will I get the job before the world ends on october 21st??

Edit: spelling

Take it as a compliment. They are probably just having trouble selecting an employee, and are trying to pick the best. Which means if you don't get the job, you weren't the best, but hey life's like that. My friend was panicking because she had to go through something like three interviews at the hotel she applied for, she's still there, employee of the month and whatnot.
Basically don't panic. They've probably just had a lot of applications and are trying to suss you all out. So make a bloody good impression!!

Edit: In order to actually answer something you asked, no don't give up if they schedule another interview.

I am seriously hoping it is a compliment. I really want the job mostly because I can wear fancy suites, and listen to a radio station that doesn't consist of rap or country music... And of course it will look good on my resume... but that's only the littler part. :turned: I'm not so much panicing as I am anxious. I just want to know what they are going to decide! ARG!!!

Yes, believe it or not, applying to Lowes.

Finally ended up being about 3 months after the first phone call with HR, and 4 interviews after. It was honestly ridiculous.

Heh, sorry, it's better to be prepared for disappointment IMO.

How long has it been between interviews. I read that again, and you said you applied a couple of months ago. That is slightly odd to take that long, which must mean they aren't really desparate for staff. Also, did they give any indication as to what your third interview would actually be about? When my friend had to go in the final time, they basically wanted it to find out when she could start working, so third interview might equal good. Might.
I've never been in the situation myself, thankfully. I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum and wondering when I'm going to get fired

True enough! haha They told me that they were going to to a full interview with the Lead hiring lady and the main boss lady might be there. No pressure or anything! I am hoping that means they are just really picky and have been taking awhile to train someone over the summer... but who knows! oh dang.... well the other end of the spectrum doesn't sound to fun... I'll stay on this end! :poke: I hope that things will turn out to be in your favor!

Yeah, I got the job. And was promptly "laid off" 3 months later due to seasonal sales not going so well, along with like 8 other people. <_<

For my current job, i emailed in my CV and a week or so later got sent a 6 page application form to complete. After that, i had to travel to the company and do a 3 hour aptitude. A couple of weeks after that, i got called to a preliminary interview with the head of hr and some executive person. A week or so after that i got called to a second interview, this time with the person who would become my direct superior. Finally, a few days later, i got a call saying the job was mine if i wanted it. In this day and age, alot of advertised positions are getting literally thousands of applicants, so the recruitment processes can often be lengthy

Ask how many interviews you're going to be subjected to before getting the job at some point during your next interview. If they say http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiMHTK15Pik however, do http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FqpDmUO0y0.

Well, it may have taken them a while to sort through all the applications, then arrange interviews with everyone they're interested in, decide who they don't like, arrange the next round of interviews... all in all, a couple of months is not overly long if they're doing three (or more) rounds of interviews.

And Septim, even if you don't end up getting the job, remember that only a small percentage of applicants get an interview, and the numbers drop off the further you go. So getting all the way to a third interview means you must have something going for you :).

You MAY not want that to be your answer if they ask about weaknesses. ;) Just sayin...

But in all seriousness good luck with it. Is it a panel interview?

Multiple interviews are common place for jobs outside of your standard fast-food joints. Each interview tends to be in tiers, each leading up to more and more important people. Since your possible future boss is a busy person, they have people interview new employees. Then, if you pass said interview, they deem you worth their time, and send you to the next person. And so on and so forth until you get an interview with the person whom will be ordering you around for the rest of your job.

I have had it happen a couple times.

I had to go through 4 interviews for my first job, and after that wait a month.

Trust me, if you've made it to the 3rd interview, you are impressing them. Keep up the good work.
