This can't be true ?

Post » Sun Nov 27, 2011 2:03 pm

Hey, well I was in the hospital for a few days, and they came to the conclusion that my gaming habits made my heart go VERY fast and made it hard for me too breath which resulted in me lying in the hospital, this doesn't make sense to me at all, I only played ALOT at the release (4 pm to 4am) Other then that I usually play 3-4 hours a day

My reaction: :ahhh:

Just curious, can this truly be ? I'm not even close to being overweight. And the only game I have been playing is Skyrim, the game I have been waiting for, for about 5 years. Pretty Ironic, and I thought I would share this, what do you guys think ... ?

This game is too awesome for your body to handle, I'm afraid. You'll have to play it in smaller doses.

You may not be overweight but how in shape are you? Is there a history of anything heart related in your family? You should probably demand more tests if they haven't done any already cause that isn't normal.

Yeah, just because you're not overweight doesn't mean you're healthy. Pretty strange indeed.

All this talk about game addiction is [censored].

I play Skyrim 14 hours per day since release, and I'm not addicted.

I do stretching exrecises before every gaming session. It doesn't hurt to take muscle supplements either.

I played for 8 hours when I got my hands on it. It's not the first either.

You obviously have other conditions that are being exposed by your gaming habits. Obviously, the culprit isn't Skyrim. It just happens to have triggered some underlying problem you have.

That's the odd thing, there is no history of ANYTHING heart related in my family, and they took a lot of tests, several bloods tests, X-Ray's and what not.

Are you sure you didn't get high off something and try to Dragonshout? You probably just busted your lungs really badly while screaming at your cat (maybe he looked like a Khajit thief)

In all seriousness though you should probably take their advice and take a small break, doctors went to school for this sort of thing, you didn't.

I usually take a break for 15 or 30 mins every 2 hours (make food/drinks whatever). Maybe it'll help!

I'll try that, but I usually never notice how much I've played until i'm very tired, which makes this idea a lot harder to complete :sadvaultboy:

Gaming isn't the problem. I don't play games like I used to, but with the right game I used to play for many, many hours at a time. When The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time first came out, it was nothing for me to play for eight to twelve hours in a single sitting without getting up or letting go of the controller. One time I was waiting for the bathroom to become available and hopping into OoT, and I thought maybe a few hours had passed by the time I put it down, only to find out it was a dozen hours later. I had to literally peel my fingers off the controller because they were so stiff. When World of Warcraft was new I spent like ten hours a night every night sitting at my PC. In all my years and many long gaming sessions I never had it cause heart problems.

Stay away from those Redbulls and Monsters to keep you going for long periods. :) Those are worse than the actual gaming.

You spelled Mancunians wrong.

But you're still my favourite person for what you posted in the "What would you do if you lived in Skyrim?" thread.

Seems like the doctors have no clue what actually caused it and are trying to find something to pin it on to sound intelligent.

You probably are prone to this condition in some way or another, there's hundreds of reasons why your heart might go too fast at times. Gaming isn't one of them.

Its an adrenalin rush that your probably not used to, controlled breathing and meditation will help. Your body's systems need to balance the excitement, get a punching bag to match your heart rate with your body's blood flow. I'm not a doctor and you might die taking this advise, but its what I do when my heart jumps out of my chest when playing.
