And Fallout looks like a game released in 1988 published by EA....it was called Wasteland.
1.Fallout did NOT invent the post-apocalyptic theme.
2.Id invented the FPS genre so I guess Fallout copied them?
3.Rage was in development longer than Fallout 3.
4.Fallout copied Wasteland.
5.Rage reminds me more of Mad Max.
6.Rage's world was destroyed by an asteroid while Fallout was destroyed by a nuclear war. Both are reasons that scientists assumed would cause something like this.I felt like adding this for no reason.

What are you reasons again? Oh wait...

Well obviously Rage is going to look like Fallout to an extent. They're both post-apocalyptic. What did you expect? Did you want nice grass fields and purple mountains?

Rage is based on Mad Max. If anything, Fallout did copy Wasteland but Rage copied no game.

And Rage does have a unique look anyway. Fallout is more dark and gray, while Rage is mostly bright browns and reds, and looks more like a natural wasteland that we could expect on Earth.

Wait though, what was the point of this thread? We already know that Rage looks somewhat like Fallout and Borderlands...

Both games (and Borderlands as well) rely heavily on Mad Max - The Road Warrior influences when it comes to art style. It's not like Fallout was very original with its setting.

I personally don't see any problem with this, because I like Mad Max.

It's not like there's a plethora of post apocalyptic games out there... especially ones worth playing. So really, complaining about another game that looks a bit like Fallout is a bit silly. What would be better, some generic looking military shooter... Oo

I don't agree. It won't play anything like fallout aside from it being a FPS. Its visuals are a million times better than fallout. If anything it looks closer to borderlands.

I just reinstalled new vegas and the game looks very outdated. I think a negative thing though is that it isn't going to play like fallout OR borderlands.

There are no character skills or progression, no character dialogue interaction, no loot collecting at all, I don't think there is crafting either.

Just a regular fps set in a sandbox apocalyptical atmosphere. Which is highly disappointing to be honest.

I'd agree, Fallout and Rage are almost two entirely different games.

However, almost everything you just said in your third line (save the "no character...progression", I have no idea about this) contradicts EVERYTHING I've heard and read about this game.

But I digress, most of my info comes from this site or an article in Game Informer that's a few months old now.

It looks to me like the game will rely heavily on three things: a detailed, colorful atmosphere; an interesting and unique post-apocalyptic concept and setting; and smooth, crisp, well-refined FPS gameplay.

That's one thing. It relies heavily on its visuals, thats it. Anyone whos anyone can make a sandbox shooter.

Does Rage's art style look like fallout to me?
Yes

Do they both look like Mad Max?
Yes

I think they look a like because the Mad Max series set a standard for what post-apocalyptic settings look like.

neither fallouts past itterations or borderlands look as good as this game.
looks post apoc to me, which BTW is a lot bigger genre than most give credit.
Not just in videogames, but movies, books and even our culture is filled with post apocalypitc stories and preminitions.

this was by far the least creative of the F/BL comparisons that ive seen, so at least you got that going for you.

Well yea we all know it kinda sorta looks like fallout or borderland but I don't know looking at the videos the world in Rage just feels so rich and populated. I din't play fallout but I did play borderland and it have like at the more 5-10 people in a town at one point, maximum. Rage just feels so rich in it's atmosphere. Like you walk into a bar people are talking, drinking it's a nice dimly lit place like a bar would usually be stuff decorated on the walls. borderland you walk into a shop there is a guy staring at you aimlessly and thats about it there will be like 2-3 things hanging on the wall and it's sooo brown n gray. Like if you compare screen shot you will know what I mean. There is insane amounts of detail and richness in Rage's world but other games till now just feel bland. If borderlands 2 ever comes out they will have a lot to compete with in terms of atmosphere.

Hi, first time posting, long time reading and following this game.

I've played all Fallout games and Borderland. I don't get where ppl think they look alike. Completely different art direction if you ask me. Fallout is dark and gritty and Borderlands is a damn cartoon.
Two games does not "look alike" because they have the same setting ppl.

3.Rage was in development longer than Fallout 3.

There is no relevant source which confirms whether or not RAGE was in development before Fallout 3.

4.Fallout copied Wasteland.

Copied? No. Influenced? Yes. Note that Interplay was involved in the development of Wasteland and so was Brian Fargo.

Aside from the above, I agree that RAGE is unique in its own sense. It's an FPS game with minor RPG elements. It focuses heavily on gun-play and unlike Fallout lacks any character development. There's a world of difference between the two games.
