this game is making my gpu overheat

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:21 pm

I just finished installing the game and upon watching the intro and character selection screen, my gpu fan has went to 100% cycle and my gpu is running 90+ degrees (according to EVGA precision). The first time it even gave me a BSOD and I had to restart my computer. I have reached the video options screen and have turned everything to low, still getting the problem.

My computer specs are:

intel i7 920 (stock, not overclocked)
nvidia 285gtx (stock)
700w corsair psu
6gb ram
etc...

My drivers are all up-to-date. I have no clue what else I can do to fix this problem. Help please! I have friends with worse computers running it just fine.

Did you turn on Vsync? That should limit the number of frames per second your graphics card renders which in theory should cause it to generate less heat.

I have not. I will try it to see if it works.

It helped a little but it's still running 90 degrees for me.

Maybe your GPU cooler is nearing it's end.
Or doesn't it overheat on other games?
