This makes me feel so unbelievable happy

This goes about a little story of my skyrim life which shows how awesome this game is :)

Last night I was playing skyrim, and I thought about it that I still have an treasure map in my inventory.

So I opened it and I looked at it. It didnt make any sense to me though.
I noticed that it had an stable icon and a farm icon. Still didnt make any sense to me.

So I clicked the map away. And to my suprise I saw that a farm was right beside me. So I started searching to where this treasure could be. But I came to the conclusion that it isnt the right farm. So I opened the map again, and I saw it showed 2 small letters, WR!

I remembered I still have that big map which you get from when you purchase skyrim. And I took the map in real life, and started searching if there is a city or any other place which has the initials WR. And I found it, White River. So I went there searching for some place which looks like the mini treasure map. Unfortunatly I didnt find any.

This dissapointing didnt let me down very long though, because when I opened the map again my eyes noticed WhiteRun. :)
Wont spoil any further but after a while I found a large chest at the same spot the treasure map showed me.

I was so freakin happy in real life as well as ingame.

This is 1 of the small details that this game makes so unbelievable good. The pleasure you get from this game makes me want to play 24/7 :)

Once you're up to level 20, all treasures are useless. Everywhere.

*sigh* I was hoping these treasure maps ( a great idea as they are) might actually contain some awesome secret like an artifact or something

Too bad the world map isn't more like the treasure maps. Would actually look like something an adventurer would use and give an actual item for quest givers to "I'll mark it on your map" with. Though I'm fine with the 3d.

The treasure maps are a nice addition to the game though.

Well I'm level 41 and always out of cash. So this treasure was quite usefull to me
Contained about 1000-1500 cash at selling the stuff to merchants.

I wish all quests were like morrowwind/treasuremaps of skyrim. Would make quests take alot longer. But like it when you have to search for something in stead of just following markers.

I'm glad YOU guys are so lucky.

I've found 3 chests in my time, yes it was most exciting to venture for them. What did I find in my latest chest?

Studded Chaps, a Longbow, 13 Iron Arrows, and 8 Gold.

I don't really think that's the point. The excitement comes from the thrill of the discovery, the satisfaction of solving a puzzle. These things can be as valuable - to some of us - as loot.

Well, I absolutely agree, which is why I think the treasure maps are a fantastic addition. It gives me hope that bethesda has not entirely abandoned the morrowind type of exploration. That said, it would make the mini-adventure so much more reward if, in the end it all lead up to some super secret treasure with some kind of pirate/bandit artifact or something, you as sort of a medal. Fx I like to collect the different deadric artifacts even if I don't actually find most of them useful, but even so, these are unique cool looking items that makes you feel as if you have achieved something awesome :)

Isn't that http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Ahkari's merchant chest? Looting her stuff results in her caravan not spawning anymore.

Personally, I like the idea, but find the implementation to be terrible. I mean, the treasures have been worthless compared to the costs of stuff at vendors, so it doesn't make sense for it to be them to be "hidden treasures." Also, I tend to find them without any map because I explore everywhere. Later, I'll get a map but I've already looted the treasure, and it wasn't worth anything, anyway, so I feel rather cheated, to say the least.

However, I think a major problem is the randomization of almost everything. It's very hard to find things that are useful for a specific character, and looking at a guide is simply cheating rather than actually roleplaying. I use a guide as a reference for info my character would know or would be able to look up in the world, but not to find out stuff she couldn't possibly know.

I just wish they were implemented better...

Not true, I've taken advantage of the chest with two play throughs and she spawns just fine for me, the trick for the stuff in the chest is

you have to stand in front of her while she's there and wait two days then ask her what she has for sale to check her inventory to make sure her money re-spawned.Then back out of the menu and return to the chest and loot... repeat process as needed.

Thank you for that info. The only time I ever took anything I needed, I put the gold amount in the chest for compensation because I thought that's who it belonged to. Is everything ok if I do that? I never noticed anyone missing from the area.
Spoiler
It was Markarth though.

This is what it's like when I go on a dragon hunt, I use

Delphine's rubbing of the dragon stone
and try to line it up with the actual map. I find the adventure to the dragon is just as if not more satisfying then the battle that comes after.
