This may kill Skyrim for me

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 11:05 pm

Well, I may be done. I have over 300 hrs in Skyrim on my one and only character. I like the character, and still have the Civil War to do.

But it may not happen. I play on an Xbox, and it has become so unstable, that I can't reliably walk from one city to another without a hard crash that freezes the system. That has forced me into more fast traveling that I want to do, but has become a necessity.

The nail in the coffin though, is the inability to complete the "destroy the dark brotherhood" quest.

Moderators feel free to move this to spoilers, but I don''t intend to elaborate on that...

But, no matter what I do, every @&$€£¥ time I enter the Sanctuary, there is a plain, puce covered solid sheet, and I windup simply falling through a void with - of all things - clouds above me.

I am frustrated to no end, and have reached an impasse I just can' t forgive.....

I really would like to fix this, but feel it is hopeless.... Any help would. Be appreciated!

How big is your save file? They can start to have lag and freezing problems after about 14 MB. You can mitigate this by collecting nirnroot the first time you see them, not putting 1000s of things in containers and placing dropped weapons on corpses.

Can't help with the void, sorry, quick google reveals one other person who has experienced this, but they didn't get an answer that wasn't spam.

Yeah I play on Xbox too and have never had this problem. Very strange with the DB glitch.

Zen -my saves are small, but I do have some to delete... At Breezehome I have scads of potions, weapons, etc in drawers etc, but nothing stored outside of houses I own.

I managed up to about 270 - 300 hours before the crashes started, they were infrequent, but have only gotten worse.... It's as if Skyrim were suffering temporal anomalies like in "Fringe"...

I'll cross post this in the Xbox section.

I almost don't even want to start the civil war now.... Too much headache with the crashes. And they are mostly ouside, not in cities as far as I can recall.

Thanks for the empathy folks!
