Im aware that in IRL silencers SILENCE a gun. And in all gun games, they prevent you from being seen on a minimap when firing.
But do they mask your shooting in brink like in other games? i only ask because, i know they are trying to make a different FPS than all other games, so im just wondering.

Yes, without silencers you appear on the enemy map when firing, but with silencers you do not appear on their map, it helps camouflage you. A silencer and the "Silent step" ability will help camouflage you from the enemy map unless spotted.

In real life, silencers are called suppresors. Why? Because they don't even come close to making guns quiet. They just lower the noise to that of..say..a nailgun. You'll still hear it in the building, but people in the building next door won't.

Beat me to it...there's no such thing as silencers.

Not if you silence a pistol chambered for .22 rounds. .22 caliber is so small, you can completely silence the bullet. You still hear the gun mechanisms hitting each other, and the bulelt impacting, but no BANG of the propellant.

Although I don't know for a fact, I'm pretty sure we haven't developed the technology yet that can completely silence the sound of a gun shot. I know for a fact we can't for a Barrett rifle, at least. :read:

Technically, still a suppressor.

MAG handled it well, where a suppressor simply drastically cut the range at which an enemy can detect your fire and locate you on their minimap. If you fire a silenced AR right next to a guy, there's no way in hell he isn't going to detect you. It could also be countered with a fully-upgraded Acoustic Locator. I haven't really looked into it much with other games though...

If you have a suppressor i think it should make your red dot 50% transparent so its less noticeable instead of just making it invisible, what do you think?

Then it's pointless. Instead of the dot staying on the radar for 3 seconds (Using 3 as an example) after you stop firing, It'll only be on there for 1.5? Either way its enough time for enemy to see where you are and run in that direction. Even then if you stop shooting the dot will remain stationary on the radar while you can run away. If that's the case, Strategically it's more useful to NOT have a suppressor, Why? Because if the dot remains stationary for 3 seconds most idiots will run directly at the dot meanwhile you probably moved 50 yards away in a hidden or elevated location and you can pick them off.

A properly suppressed pistol (.45 caliber or lighter) will be almost entirely silent - the sound of the slide working on trigger pull will be louder than the actual expulsion of gas and bullet from the barrel. An assault rifle with an integrated suppressor will significantly change the noise of the rifle - it will still be heard, but it won't sound quite like you would think the un-integrated model of the rifle would sound.

God I hate when people say "pick them off" or "pick people off"I don't know why. I just hate the way it sounds. Whatever, pay no mind, I'm just ranting. ^_^

silencers (AKA suppressors) low the Db levels of a gun shot a little, and stops the crack from the gun shot. the sound of the crack is what gives you position away

Actually, suppressors do exactly what they potray in most games. They do not "silence" the weapon. They do however muffle it enough to make it difficult to pinpoint it's origination. Hence why people are "invisible" to radar when they have one equipped.

suppressors can reduce sound of weapons to a level that is hard to detect over distance or above ambient environmental noise...however it is film/tv/games that lead you to assume they cancel out the noise altogether...

the quietest 'conventional' weapon would be small calibre firing subsonic munitions

they are useless on revolvers

I spent 5 years in the military (shock troops not SF) and the most common use was for urban warfare...discharging a weapon in a confined space is not really a fun experience

also be aware that a round from a long range sniper weapon will break the sound barrier with a distinctive crack and when you see a cheytac M200 with a 'silencer' it is most likely to eliminate the flash that would give away a snipers position rather than deal with the noise

^ Dude knows what he's talking about

Again with MAG (I know, I know, "let it go, Super, those days are long gone"), a suppressor aided in avoiding detection but, say on an AR, the shots would still rattle violently, and in come cases the enemy could probably hear it through their speakers anyway.
