Dunno, Guess I've lucky. No serious issues whatsoever (thus far, knock on woody) aside from a loading problem where the loading screen kinda hangs and flashes just before entering the game. I can hear my character doing things in the background but the loading screen is displayed and is kinda flashing. After a couple of attempts it always seemes to eventually load up the game properly after Task Mastering out of the game. It's almost seems as if Steam is lagging during loading.

Having good fun though, the weapons are fun and the combat seems fun too. I like making 20 gauge slugs for my Caravan shotgun... Blam! Blam! weeeHawww!

P.S. Thought I might mention also, no Acheivements show up on the Steam page even though I earned them in-game. Could be because they disabled Cloud yesterday or something. Hope they get that sorted and attribute them retroactively. It nice to keep track of them, but wholly not required to enjoy the game.

Rule of thumb. Save, and save often! About to initiate a quest? Save. About to complete a quest? Save. Gonna level after a few more kills? Save. Enter a dialogue that has an option to begin a quest? Leave the conversation, save, re-enter it, and then accept the quest.

Save save save...

... dodgy as this review was... it just made me want it more! Tomorrow can't get here fast enough. Come ooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnn!

Its a matter of personal opinion what you give the game (since you pick GS I will show what the users think) 347 users and 9.1 avg score http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/falloutnewvegas/players.html?tag=scoresummary%3Buser-score

I don't get to play the game before later this night (16 hours or so) but I am very posetive that this game will be suited for me.. I know there are glitches and bugs etc but honestly I can't remember a single game the last few years without glitches and bugs just after release (not alone in big open world games)

I guess I must be old :/ since I cherish gameplay > gfx . I do think its bad if the bugs and glitches are to deverstating but patches will come fast (in fo3 I never had a single crash) but some of my friends had... well thats how game is someone gets a nice playthrough others have problems.. but looking at how few writing negative stuff on this forum I think this game will be 9-10 score for me (I remember alot of other games having much more rage)

Another thing... GS tends to be very biased and if its not new (new gfx engine new idea etc) they score it low... thats just how GS is (normaly they know if a game super svck but then it gets under 6)

Yea well if you all don't by now the consoles are still buried under the surface with bugs.My PS3 crashed last night after 7+hours of gameplay and I don't care what anybody says.I should be able to play any game for however long I want and it not CRASH on me.END OF STORY.Super Mario Bros never had to be patched. Why should nextgen games have to be patched??Why don't they make games that don't have to have patches all the time.Would be a great thing for the people who spend their hard earned money.NO???

You are right. It's not easy for some younger peoples to play a game without perfect visuals, a ultra easy-to-use interface and 100% linear(and guided) gameplay. I however would really appreciate if more companies would do what obsidian did. I really dont need a new game engine every year. I want new stories, quests, and other content. A game is nothing without this. So why waste years of developlment for every new game just to get an 100% up to date engine when you instead can use the time to focus on the game itself?

But the OP is right. This review really should be a message for bethesda: "If you want to make an good rpg: don't listen to what the freaking ADHS-Kiddies from gamespot want."

Well for one, games back in the day were made on ROMs with very simple coding. The chances of having a game breaking glitch were very low because the code was so simple. Yet even with lower chances, some old NES games, including Mario to some extent, had bugs in them. My guess is if most of us had a gaming console that worked with the internet and had some sort of network to keep track of patches back in the day, the old cartridge games would have been patched multiple times. Now, we're in the present, where even coding a 3D character to move takes up 50x the space that it did to code Super Mario Brothers, so of course there is going to be more glitches. The more complex games get, the more glitces we'll get. And WE CAN'T EVER ESCAPE THAT.

As for the Gamespot review... well, I'd give my opinions on them, but I don't think they would be too appropriate for this forum. :whistling:

Well, having the same graphics engine than the previous game seems to be a tradition for fallout series.

New vegas and Fallout 3
Fallout 1 and 2

Does not bug me though, the engine is good.

Well in this case Obi had to deliever on the date agreed by beth.. I have noticed that its very normal that publishers rush games nowadays (I see the same thing in mmo games) a good example is AOC that game had so much potential but was rushed (maybe a year to soon) this caused the game after release to be [censored]... but after 1 year the game was pretty decent. so don't always blame the devs, devs wanna make the best game ! but if the devs set the date this game would be out in 2015 haha....

I guess what I am trying to say is. If you want to play games you have to endure bad releases sometimes (remember if you get games that gets patched they sometimes turn out to be super good)

!! Be happy about the fact that Fallout is now Fallout once again and that you will have a open world with choices... (look at what Gothic have become to satisfy youngsters and console players...) now that game is just linear hack and slash with glowing gfx... haha

games have always had bugs. I remember playing Jet Set Willy (on cassette!) and that had a major gamestopping bug... but back in the day, you couldn't just download a patch because the internet didn't exist! So I'm glad bugs can be fixed. Might take a week or it may take longer. They got the guns but we.. oh, wait, wrong song. :whistling:

You don't say... I remember when Metal Gear solid came for PS and one of my younger sisters friends said Ohh this is just the best game ever its always been great... and I was shocked.. since I remember playing that on NES and I cried as a young because of this game and its bugs and horrible gameplay!!!!

The angry video game nerd agrees with me!
So young people today should be pretty happy about the way games work and how they get patches.!

I think the questing and overall pacing is better then FO3

Plus voice acting is better character are more interesting and have "heart"

So NV is all win :intergalactic:

P.S. When bugs are fixed that score will not be accurate or a reflection of the game it will more like 8.5 to be correct don't forget DLC which completes the overall experience so now we are banking a 9.5 F it! 10 GOTY mo foes :foodndrink:

gamespot reviews are a joke....
The gave Lost Planet2 (PC) pretty much same score as Fallout New Vegas.. what a sick joke.

Dont pay attention to reviews, try the game yourself. Most reviews prefer graphics over story, gameplay,etc.. its stupid.

Well you have to give Obsidian credit, they were given 2 years (probably less) to make a game with an old engine they have never used before. Sure the game is buggy as hell, crashed on me 4 times while playing today and spent 2 hours on a vague brotherhood quest. But the game has excelled in areas that Bethesda has seem to struggle with.

I do hope whatever Bethesda has planned, be it the rumored MMO or something else, uses a new engine.

What are all of these amazing game failures he keeps talking about? I have experience I think three crashes in 19 hours which, from my experience, for anything using any version of Gamebryo is to be expected. Are the console versions worse than the PC or am I just really fortunate?

I have to disagree with you on the game engine, only since this is Oblivion's Original Engine. After this many years, it should have been replaced or updated bigtime by now..... @ Bethesda

I have to say I love the new gameplay more then FO3 by a mile. This game takes me back to Morrowind, where you actually had to work a little to find your way around the game world instead of everything just handed to you. Even with fast travel and quest markers. You still have to figure out what you are doing and who you want to align yourself with in the game.

FYI, Half the time Gamespot just take a look at the story and some elements of gameplay, then base their score on how much money they get paid from the company who is releasing the game.

I have seen many of the complaints being put out by folks, but on my end personally, I am very happy with things. FO3 would crash on me constantly on my PC, to the point I was very lucky if I could make it 2-3 hours without getting kicked to desktop, and would often see 3-4 crashes in a 30 minute period. With F:NV, I haven't seen a single crash to desktop, across 26-28 hours of gameplay (didn't have to work the last couple days, so took advantage). I have only seen two bugs, and while one does need correcting (losing quick/autosaves due to Steam), the other one is a carryover from FO3 - the old crash on exiting game, which isn't really that big a deal since I am shutting it down anyways.

Edit: forgot to mention, they even seem to have fixed some of the nvidia stutter problems from FO3, where I used to have to keep the game in windowed mode to make it remotely playable. I can actually play NV in fullscreen without a hitch the majority of the time - turning quickly next to open flames does slow me a little bit, but that is likely just my settings on an older 8800GT.
