This is the best game ever

I have played all of the iD games and Bethesda games since the dawn of time and let me tell you, this is some impressive work here. I have never seen an FPS engine combine so many elements from RPG, Racing, and Arcade action in my life. They had me running all over the wasteland, picking flowers, blasting enemies, and speeding off ramps into canyons. I cannot tell you how awesome this game engine is, it will blast you right out of your chair. Also the vehicle physics are on par with all of the latest racing games. Most of the off road terrain that looks like it can be driven over, can be, which makes for some epic jumping moments during rocket battle.

They left no stone unturned, as I played I noticed that no two corners of this beautiful game are the same. When you get into it you don't feel like you're playing in a level or on game levels, it makes you feel like you're playing in a real world somewhere on a distant planet in the depths of a storybook. I can't imagine the pain and tears in the eyes of John Carmacks art and development team when he told them they would have to paint up a billion square miles of textures, but it's worth it and it looks breathtaking. I cannot emphasize how incredible this game looks compared to anything you've ever played before, it may not look like it to you yet, but iD Tech 5 will blow your mind over and over, it will comb your brains back and then blow your spine right out of your neck.

There are plenty of things to do in this 'verse. If you get bored on a mission you can turn around and run back to town and go pickup a different mission. If you want to finish it later you can do that too. You can also drive around and visit all of the places after you beat them. The world feels very connected and hunting around inside it is a delight. They turned weapons and ammo into a commodity so you can manage your inventory (which will quickly grow to hoarder level status) and keep yourself stocked up on ammo for your favorite weapons. You can also collect various technology and build little gadgets that help you in battle, and are actually useful during gameplay.

The game has ran smooth out of the box since day one. In lower resolutions like 1280x800 the game runs really smooth and looks fantastic. I noticed some minor texture tearing issues in 1920x1200 with anti-aliasing on, but they were only in certain rooms... it went away for outdoor scenes and for most indoor scenes. Probably because I don't have top of the line hardware.

Running on quad core intel 3.0Ghz with 8GB DDR3 on a SSD Win7 64 install and GeForce 460 GTX rendering. Game screams, levels load in 1-3 seconds every time.

Also there are lots of scary monsters to shoot and they jump around and climb over things like your favorite zombie game. The music in this game is intense, and very very well picked, prepare to turn the lights out and pee yourself trying to play this alone in your basemant.

I agree , i havent had this much fun in a game in a long time. It runs incredible on my 580 sli config and with the tweaks to the cfg file fix , it looks great. Although a hd texture pack would be nice too.
