Is this TOO MUCH of a character?

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 4:48 am

Played Skyrim a few times using different classes. And I must admit that I can't really seem to find the right class that fits me. They all have their good and their bads. Some fun things...other have boooooring things.

For example... A warrior that just swings, swings, swings over and over again is pretty damn boring. However! It does feel good "sometimes" when enemies that get on my nerves get a sword driven into their chest. Or better yet...get their head cut off!

Archer? It's fun to snipe enemies from a distance. SOMETIMES! But killing ALL enemies with a bow and arrow leaves me missing out on all the action.

Mage is pretty cool and all. But "sometimes" I just want to get all up in the action. And not have to keep back peddling and/or worrying about my low armor.

So with all that I said, is creating an alll around jack of trades character "too much"?

I was "thinking" of making a character that uses bow and arrows to take out enemies from a far if need be. Like a situation where there are too many enemies and I would like to thin out their numbers. Then attack them using magic. When and IF magic runs out, or an enemy is up in my face and I do NOT have "relentless shout" available to back them off of me. Then and ONLY then I will take out my sword and chop off their heads.

Would like to use heavy armor as it does look cooler and does provide better armor. However! I do NOT want to move like a snail. Heavy armor does this? No???

And I do NOT want it to mess up my sneak attacks from bow and arrow. Don't care about stealing or pickpocketing. Not my thing. Do like pick lock though! :-)

Is this character that I just mentioned "too much"?

Never too much, jack of all trades is totally viable though you might have to lower the difficulty a bit.

Just have your way and enjoy.

Actually yes. Everything you mentioned really wouldn`t be sensible for this type of game. If I were you I would invest in the ugliest character possible and just wear a chefs hat and fight with a pickaxe. The immersion and realism would last a lifetime.

Seriously though. This game isn`t class based as what to you may be used to. You can do everything like you said and will be alot more fun then sticking to a basic template.

Nightblade:
destruction, archery, onehanded, alchemy, lockpicking, sneak.

evenly distribute with a flourish of illusion, alteration, and enchanting...

Sneak up string your bow, poison, set some runes, get in and out, and flurry chuck the hell out of the last man in your way with a couple enchanted daggers.

Armor is for the slow and impatient. Just find some decent light armor to keep your knees from skidding when your backstabbing and decapitating.

your welcome.

Actually my character uses bow, sword and board, conjuration just fine (thats just my offensive skills). I have difficulty on expert. Just use your perks wisely. You can always level skills but you only have so many perks. As for heavy armor, use steed stone, armor doesnt affect movement pebalty

as long as you don't have no problem with not looking your enemy in the eye, that's a nightblade, just go light.

heavy and up front equal more of a battlemage.

That sounds like me except I use light armor.I use my bow and then shoot some fireballs when they get closer and then switch to my one hand weapon with either heal or a destruction spell in the other hand.I'm really having a ball!

Why would i have to lower the difficulty?

Because being a jack of all trade means you sacrifice combat strength for more utilities, and utilities along can't not save you from many encounters especially in a game enemies' level scale with your level.

You can always rely on staves and scrolls to reduce the amount of magic you need to cast. Also, if you are worried about being slow with Heavy Armor, find the Steed stone.
