[REQz] Thompson Submachine Gun (Tommy Gun)

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:00 pm

OK So we have the Laser RCW, which is basically a Tommy Gun, but WITH LASERS!

I have searched a bit and haven't seen one yet-
is there a mod for a realistic WWII style Thompson, that fires bullets, possibly even a mod to add .45ACP ammo (the game doesn't use .45 IIRC, only 9mm, 10mm, .357Mag, .44Mag, .45-70 Gov., etc).

I was able to take the Laser RCW and mod it myself to fire .50MG ammo, and use the 10MM submachinegun SFX, its a little kludgey though, and of course it still has all of the electronic doo-dahs on it (i'm not very good doing GFX, not yet anyway).
Using the drum magazine would keep it the similar basic shape, and the real Thompson did have the 75rnd drum magazine so that's no problem (most WWII FPS use the 20 or 30rnd stick mags though).

So does this exist, or is anyone up to create one?

I have seen M1 Garand (next on my download list), AK-47, and some others, would love to see the WWII Thompson available.

Thanks!

Yeah. I'm pretty disappointed the Vance's gun wasn't a Tommy gun. When I read the museum description saying 'some say the two could have taken down as many as 50 police officers' I immediately thought: "Tommy gun." Nope. :\

depends on how the laser rcw is modelled, maybe one can simply take off the nasty glowing pieces... the .44 revolver in FO3 was similiar, underneath the skope was still a model, not even AO mapped and hence no need for retexturing ;)
didnt bother yet... but ill give it a shot if noone else is quicker ;)

@Jaysus2 if you have the inclination by all means... :)
I have your M1 Garand mod and it is sweet.

I would be willing to beta test if need be.

@JPZ1987- Agree, that would have made sense.
Though, the real Bonnie and Clyde are often depicted with a Tommy Gun like many other gangsters of the 30s, they actually preferred the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR), and Remington semi auto shotguns, along with 1911 and .38 revolver pistols.
The arsenal they had in the back of their car for their "final" trip had a bunch of these, but no Tommy Guns.

OK so to keep the WWII theme going- maybe let's add the BAR to the REQ list.... hehehe (though Tommy Gun first please ...)

@Jaysus2 - I think Bonnie mostly held either a pistol, or there are some shots of her holding a Remmy semi auto shotgun (like the one where she is playfully doing a "hold up" of Clyde).
Clyde and the other gang people used the BAR. As far as I've read anyway... ;)

thought so lol...
nyway, the ingame tommy model, to get back ontopic, uses an AO map, hence simply removing those laser parts doesnt work, one also needs to erase the shadows from these parts in the texture

its not 100% a tommy gun but as close as you can get by just using vanilla assets without overdoing it

Awesome! :)
I downloaded it just now, going to test it.
I can see where it isn't 100%, but hey with the vanilla assets its a darn fine job, and looks a lot cleaner than the RCW.

Now of course I'm going to take it and totally god-mode the stats, just for myself.... heheh.

Oh and nice screenies on the Nexus, definitely fits :)
