Sorry, it didn't correct the freezing issues. That said, it now runs a little smoother than FO3 did with its patches, so that's nice. It's bittersweet to finally be able to play this game without constant hitching...

You can say that again, but you still can't help expecting the game to crash at some point. They've used us players to it...

Hopefully it'll not happen again.

Aren't you happy with the patch? Hell, it seems like a different game after this miraculous patch.

It's a shame this didn't happen earlier, but hey, better late than never. ;)

I've read Aleister's previous posts and he has long gotten rid of the game, so he can't really answer how he feels about this new patch.
Personally, after just starting a new game, have had no freezes in hours of gameplay so I'm pretty optimistic that this patch has just saved my fallout experience.

It seems as it works as it should have been at release day now. Still things to do - PSN outage interfering - but nevertheless, let's acknowledge what's been done. Far too late, but as far as I can see better than expected given the track record so far. The people behind this title have much to prove before trust is totally restored, but they are clearly on the way. I still feel bad about being an early adopter and paying full price for something I can now buy for a fraction of the price I paid. I just hope the SUITS learn some lessons and that it is they who get laid off early the next time such a fundamental flaw is released. Kudos to the programmers. Thank you.

Indeed. Good riddance.

I remember this happening to me a couple times. I'd start a new game, everything would be hunky-dory until half-way through the MQ or after my save got to be 7-8 MB.

It will freeze eventually. Maybe less now that quest errors have been fixed and the like, but I would bet my left foot the game will never be "freeze-free."

I agree it will never be freeze free and I maybe should have mentioned before that my save file is currently pretty low, meaning crashes should be at an all time low. I can completely relate to your anger at this product after I endured the nightmare that was Fallout 3 GOTY PS3.

Though I've read from other posts about people who suffered horrendous lag and freezes with a file of 8MB+ who have downloaded the patch and are experiencing a huge improvement, so this patch has been succesful to some degree and it looks like freezes have been reduced to what is hopefully (for me anyway) a playable level. I'm looking forward to again playing, what truly is if you ignore some of the remaining bugs, a great game.

And another thing, was the game engine actually patched or have they merely used work arounds (e.g. reduced the number of NPCs roaming about in Westside) to improve performance?

I don't think they "fixed" Gamebryo, if that's what you mean by the "engine" patch. I don't see what could have possibly changed since they made F3 with the same engine, yet couldn't fix that completely. What kind of solution could they come up with now that they couldn't come up with oh say, I dunno. 2 and a 1/2 years ago?

technology improving has nothing to do with it, Gamebryo is the same now as it was then.

I played FO3 and FONV. With FO# the game would only "crash" and start to slow down if you play for many hours without jumping out of the game and going back in every so offen. There is a lot of info being sent and thats always going to have errors here and there. What I did: Played for a time, see the game not being as smooth as it was with it's frame rate (YES PS3) then stop, saved, turn off PS3/Reset, PLAY...
Game runs perfect if you give it a little rest/restart so it can "forget" some of the stuff you have done/killed/marked.
FO3 Rocks. FONV - I will see you again in a few days. After I finish watching Heroes....

I've waited for this "patch" and now that It's out I decided to plug the ps3 in and try it out. Unfortunately I notice lag, and stutters still, not as bad or as often but the lust has died and still don't want to play.

In 2 hours the game froze twice, one time sending me back to the XMB and the other time at a loading screen which eventually came out of the lock up (5min later) and now when I deal with merchants it takes to long to interact.

So with all that I am not impressed and with the release of a pretty cool looking game coming out called 'brink' by Bethesda I have warned anyone who tells me to buy it that it's not gonna happen and go on to inform them of my horrible experience with FNV!

Good luck people and screw you Bethesda!

Pfft, what do I have to worry about?... :shifty:

Well, there you have it.

Brink is developed by a completely different developer than BGS or Obsidian. It isn't using anything related to the faulty software in Fallout 3 and NV.

It's being published by Bethesda, and if you really don't like them, buy it used or something. But to warn others of the game because of your experiences with Fallout isn't really fair to the actual developers of Brink, who worked hard on a most likely very refreshing and well-thought-out seamless SP/MP.

Strange. I've played 1.05 awhile now. If you've read my earlier post you know I had all kinds of problems and was really disappointed. My last save has close to 18 hours of playing (started a new game after patch). During this time I have experienced minor stuttering - comparable to any other game which suffer from stuttering; I have had ZERO freezes leading to a restart of the console; I've had ZERO crash-to-XMB. The courier runs faster and the game flows better. I also "feel" that the loading-times are shorter. The only last problem is that I need to go into 3'rd person view and engage an enemy in V.A.T.S before V.A.T.S. works in first person view. Oddly enough this only has to be done the first time I load the game after it has been shut down for a while. Right now I'm quite pleased and enjoying the game. I can do stuff without being afraid the console will lock. Haven't tested quest-bugs - playing it safe doing quests the way I know will work.

On the whole, for me, the 1.05 patch brought the game to the release level. This is what it should have looked like when it was released. And now it's damn fun to play. A pity it took so long.

Bothers me that others have problems on the PS3's. I always thought a PS3 was a PS3. Those of you complaining here, are you really running on a PS3 or did you just end up here after a google-search? I really think we need to sort this out; problems with the PS3 is discussed in this forum, problems with other platforms are discussed in other forums.

And for those PS3 owners still experience errors - what can I say? I've tested the game on my two PS3 consoles, both were really bad pre 1.05, both are really good after 1.05.

Everything was great till I decided to explore Westside after giving up on it because of how glitchy it was. Same thing! Started walking around and it like a slow mo camera that can't keep up with my movements. Then I went down into the sewers and same thing. I really really hope they fix Westside. It's just a mess.

I'm still confused as to why people say the game is so glitchy. Personally, I have a PS3 slim 120 GB, a bought new copy of the game, and mine works just fine. I've only had a bit of lag once, for about 5 minutes.
