Since you guys loved arguing over whether or not the Stormcloaks were hypocritical or not, I'll add this one for all you Imperial folk to enjoy yourselves for a bit.

Do you guys not notice the Cowardice of the Empire?

Every action of the Imperial Legion since Uriel's death in Oblivion has been solely based upon self-preservation and cowardice. Take the White-Gold Concordat (WGC) for instance. No, I wouldn't go so far as to say the Imperials "surrendered," but they most certainly didn't win. They conceded the worship of Talos (a prevalent god in both their culture and the Nordic), nearly lost the Imperial City, and suffered the indignity of continued payment to the Thalmor.

After the embarrassment that was the WGC, the Empire thought they had regained ground - they had kept control of the Imperial City, and their emperor had survived. But at what cost? Their cowardice had shown the Nords of Skyrim that the empire currently governing them was unfit for rulership in Skyrim (it had strayed very far from the reign of Tiber Septim, whom they loved). Thus, the civil war broke out between Ulfric Stormcloak's followers and the Imperial - who immediately began to lose ground against Ulfric and his rag-tag team of hardy Nords.

They've lost a lot of ground, respect, and bravery since the days of General Talos.

It's true. The Imperials are spinless and the Stormcloaks are traitors. I hate both, to Hammerfell!

Didn't some Imperial hero beat the Thalmor out of the imperial city with Goldbrand? It seems like the imperials were totally winning.

If the Stormcloak's backed off and let the Legion get its self back together, the Legion could fight back the Thalmor. However, since the Legion is trying to put down the rebellion, they don't have enough troops to fight back against the Thalmor. No one can fight a war on two fronts, that's been proven. They did banish the worship of Talos, but they did it in order to prevent further problems with the Thalmor.

They were winning until that "hero" gave up.

That would be Emperor TItus Mede II according to some reports, it's never really stated if he did indeed wield the sword.


It's possible to fight a war on two fronts (US in WWII with the Pacific and European theaters of war, although they did have allies in Europe) but extremely difficult.



Losing pretty much all of your forces is not really a victory...

Fighting a war on 2 fronts was not done in WWII. The US fought the war in the pacific against Japan, but they weren't fighting in Europe at the time (If they were it was an extremely small force, just to aid the allies). If you look at Napoleon or Adolf Hitler, they both lost when they tried to fight a war on 2 fronts. They both had extreme power and extreme forces, but they couldn't win the fight when they had to fight 2 different ways. Just like the imperials can't beat both the Stormcloak's and the Thalmor. The Thalmor are a very strong force, so is the Stormcloak's. Fighting them both at the same time would be devastating to the Empire.

Empire? They were doing brilliantly until the WGC, But now that Titus Mede II is dead this opens up a possibility that the new ruler will not be like Titus.

Tutus Mede II was brilliant tactician but he has become to weary of war to lead the Empire against the dominion successfully.

I wouldn't say wimps but more or less dumb. Considering that both the Empire and the Dominion suffered heavy losses, Titus Mede II could of negotiated better terms. And I would guess they pulled much of the time before the Great War was because the Legion was weak.

They are not cowards they're dishonorable. If they where cowards they wouldn't have went to war with the stormcloaks.

He can't be called brilliant when he ignored all warnings and did jack squat to prepare for a Dominion invasion after having plenty of warning. Now he's just flailing trying to keep Cyrodiil intact. At Red Ring, he got lucky, and the Nords came through. That's the end of that story.
