This is my second time through this point, I had no problem the first time.

I've just gotten "clear skys", walk to the arch, shout, I can hear the words (and see the pressure wave), but they don't work.

I've went back to a previous save twice, Leaving Argis at home the second time. 3rd time and still doesn't work.

could their be an object that the char is carring that is bugged for this quest? Or do I need to try and go even further back on a save? Save point is half way through sky temple were the pressure plates are.

It has been since the first week the game came out since I was last up there. I seem to remember having to walk almost up to where the field was affecting my character.

Does your Journal tell you to go up the path?

UESP says you can get to the throat of the world without using the shout:

It is possible to reach the Throat of the World before the quest http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Paarthurnax by scaling up the side of the mountain adjacent to http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:High_Hrothgar using a zig-zag technique. Also using a horse will make it easier to scale steeper slopes

Got it. Climbed to the next tier of the path and walked the path the rest of the way. Shout worked just fine. Thank you for the help!

Yeah, well I'm sure I wouldn't be the first person that had to start over for a goofy glitch. Would be a bummer, I have that char right were I want her for the lvl she's at.
