Through the Looking Glass

So I have a question.

So, one day your walking through your house and you look out your window IG. You see what?

Currently, you don't see anything to my knowledge. You see a glass texture, perhaps some light layered ontop of it, depending on the time of day.

Well, I would like to see the surrounding countryside.

I realize the easiest way to do this, would be to make a house without interior cells. Is this the ONLY way to do this?

Would there be some way that I could allow people to look out windows and see the view they would have, if they were outside?

I ask because I am working on a house mod with a Helluva view (It's at Nilheim).

Any Ideas?

One problem with houses whitout interiors is that rain and snow falls right through the roof. Kind of kills the immersion. Performance drops may be another problem.

Anyway, this has been done for Oblivion, in at least two different ways. One of them is http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=34199, and the other... can't remember it right now. From what I can remember, I think one of them added exteriors around every interior, cell by cell, by hand. The other one generated exteriors in some way, not sure how effective it was. Hopefully someone else knows which mod I'm referring to.

You can try but it means changing the navmesh. Currently there is a bug with esps that change the navmesh causing NPC's to grind to a halt. Although, making it a master should solve the issue.

Alternatively, you can fake an exterior using a image. Maybe find a way to change the image to suit he weather and time of day. You could even have random NPC's set to ignore you, walking by the windows outside. Something similar was done in an Oblivion mod where the house was underwater, so you could have a look at that one. It worked very well, I recall.

He should be able to just copy the exterior cell, deactivate any weather effects. remove the NPCs (All he wants is the landscape, right?) and then define his interior as an "exterior" so it reflects the time of day?
