Time to move on to a new game.

Post » Wed Aug 03, 2011 2:49 am

This game is not doing it for me anymore. The graphics arent the best, the sound is rough when it comes to explosions, and I seem to have met level 20 on all 10 of my characters within a month. Sure the parkour is sick and pretty bad A, but overall this game has lost its finesse. The campaign storyline is boring and forgettable, You are'nt even a main character in the story, more of a background dude really.I really wish Bethesda and SD stuck with their idea from the beginning like in the container city videos that were realeased before the game. THAT looked like a cool freaking game! the cutscenes, the memorable characters, the cleaner look (you know, no red and blue hazes around people, or the crappy outline around stuff), and overall a much cooler game. I hope that if a sequal comes out, it will be more like that. Brink was cool! Don't get me wrong, but it has absolutely zero replay value. Once you beat it, you beat it. Time to move on to another game Bethesda and Splash Damage. This, of course is my interpretation. I want everyone to give input and their own look on this "6 out of 10"(<-- IGN rating) game. Have at it.

How do you "beat" a multiplayer online FPS?
You can get bored with it and play it til you lose interest, but I don't think you actually "beat" it.

And if you got 10 players to level 20, you may actually be ready to move on to another game. Or get outside, It's summertime ;)

We should all get our friends on gold/silver accounts to DL it anyway since it's free. I got a few of my friends IRL to at least DL the DLC when it comes and they're going to either rent/buy Brink now cause of me..

Hasn't got boring for me, i'm always tinkering with weapons and parkouring in places i've never tried, so on so forth. Yeah the maps get real stale i'll admit... and the GFX aren't great. But I'm gameplay > gfx..

Why oh why do people feel the need to voice the fact that they dont enjoy the game or are bored with it? Waste of time.

My sig

NAO!

Just played several games over the course of a few hours with some friends. We didn't lose a single game. So no, I don't think I'll give this game up... at least until BF3 hits the market.

You can't "beat" a multiplayer game. What is it with people assuming the campaign is the only reason to play this game? Did you TRY freeplay? It isn't about the story... It's about the new-style of PvP, that's what the game was marketed as since day one.

On another note, I thought "Goodbye" threads weren't allowed on the forums?? Is that not what this is?

When he says hes beat the game i think he means hes unlocked everything completed everything and played the online over and over again and has not got any more to offer for him and is boring and stale.
Goodbye threads are ok, hes not really just saying goodbye hes jus tvoicing his rightfull opinion he has every right to, if he feels he cant get anything more from the game and is goingto haveto stop playing it hes allowed to go on its forum and tell people why and ask them if they feel the same or not.

Anyone remember the gaming days when developers didn't have to add in 5000 levels of ranking up to make people feel like the game had "replay value"? I played Star Wars Battlefront OVER and OVER again and never got old...and there was NO ranking up....

or what about Goldeneye on the N64...NO ranking up, yet anyone who has any history with FPS games has played hours and hours of that.

I'm glad Brink doesn't take long to rank up all the way. You can rank up fast and enjoy the game with everything it has to offer. How is that bad?

Yes, this was off topic...but in my defense, this wasn't really much of a topic to begin with.

I think this poll is a bit premature considering the DLC is out tomorrow (fingers crossed) and it might be a relatively small DLC with limited appeal, but nonetheless the game would benefit from a free weekend on Steam. Hell if COD BO can do it why can't Brink! I think it'd be great.
Looking fwd to the DLC and making a new character.

Battlefront two gave you unlocks.

But then again, that was a superb game.

You're comparing the replayability of 2 of the greatest classic games, Battlefront and Goldeneye, to Brink? TO BRINK? SERIOUSLY? I do believe there's bile in my mouth....... :banghead: :shakehead:

wait for DLC. it drops soon. and if you have 10 level 20s without grinding XP then you might just have overplayed the game.

Personally, I don't want any leveling system at all. I would like for us to get 20 ability points everytime we create a new character that we can choose to build them from.

I don't need that sort of incentive to play. The game can't tell me when I've maxed out my goals for Brink. I play Brink like one plays a sport... my goals are things such as

1) To become a great dueler
2) To find/build a team of good players and to develop really good teamwork. To get into the high-level strategy of the game.
3) To be a part of a longterm community and to watch the game evolve over time in the way that it is played.

I'm not getting bored of Brink. In fact, it gets more interesting each day I play. The only other games to do this for me in my life was Unreal Tournament 99 and Killzone 2. I usually stick with one game for several years. I played Killzone 2 from release until Brink's release. Now Brink is my game, and there isn't a multiplayer game even announced yet that I'm really looking forward to... So I will be playing Brink for several years at minimum.

"Reading and Understanding English 101" begins tomorrow, please attend.

The point of those statements, was that modern gamers need to get out of their head that "leveling up" and "replayability" are two things that go hand in hand. I gave examples of 2 stellar games that had no rank system yet were awesome.

Reviewers all over the web knocked Brink's level 20 cap as limiting it's replayability. Which is not true for anyone who is any sort of a gamer. Love or hate Brink, that's not the issue.

I agree with a previous poster that it would be great if when you created a character they were all ready maxed out and you simply built your custom character.

I LOVE Brink. It was my most-anticipated game of pretty much all time a good 2 years before it came out.I wasn't super-happy about a few things but it mostly lived up to my expectations. I played it every single day for weeks after it was released, (I have a tonne of games and I normally never devote that much time to one title), and even took the time to platinum it, (yes I know it's possibly the easiest game to get a platinum trophy for but as someone who doesn't care one iota about trophies, I felt this game to be worth the effort).

Now close to three months later I will admit to growing a little bored with it. The recent improvements to the A.I. were not really what I was hoping for, (can't see a difference really), and online matches are just way too predictable. So it is definitely possible to grow bored with a game you absolutely love.
