In My Time of Need. What did you do and why?

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 6:35 pm

Spoilers here so don't read on if you do not want to know. I have done this quest in a previous game. Starting a new game and about to start this quest again. Thing is I want to know who the evil camp is here. It looks like you can do it both ways because they both seem to be telling the truth. In my first game I believed the girl so choose her side. Not sure what side I should choose this time.

Just like when I feel sorry the Nord's people fight agaisnt the Emprie, they are rude to me and wonder why I want to help them. Same thing goes for the Alikir. Why would I want to help them when they are rude to me. If they are so tough they should be able to handle the situation themselves.

So I am curious as to what you did and why.

Yes I checked the UESP and my hint book so know how it goes if you do both ways and doesn't tell you who is right or wrong. So I just want to know what you guys have done.

Not so much what did I do as who did I do ;)

Well, I was a relative newcomer to the lore when I did the quest, so I chose Saadia, given that she gives off that damsel-in-distress air. It was only long after, when I read up on the Great War in Hammerfell, that I realised I'd most likely been duped :|

If you choose to kill the Alik'r warriors, will Saadia still be there?

Yes she will. She decides to stay in Whiterun (the original place where she was, been a while so sorry if I confused a city) till things blow over, so she doesn't leave. Funny they say you never see the Alikir but I still see them from time to time, but they do nothing.

I let the Ali'kir take her away. I wouldn't want the thalmor poking around where I live, taking people away to they're prisons or whatever.

My first playthrough I sided with her. Upon my second playthrough I paid more attention to the story and hers just doesn't add up. Being of noble birth with money and titles you would think she had connections, yet she burned all her bridges and is resorting to a stranger for help. There's a reason her bridges were burned and I believe the Ali'kir were telling the truth.

I agree with this, but then again, why do the Ali'kir behave so unhournable then? That makes no sense to me at all either. I don't know, even if the girl is wrong, I have a hard time believeing the Ali'kir because how can they be so useless then? Why not act covertly instead of pounding thier chest "we are Ali'kir" and get banned from entering Whiterun?

Then they bug any Redguard woman outside of Whiterun. Not very honourable at all.

Well considering her crime, they are eager to have her pay. They have every right to beat their chests as well considering they fought off the thalmor. They could have been more polite to that other redguard but then again how many redguard women are actually in skyrim.

They also could of just waltzed in the bar and taken her out but they did try to do it through 'legal' means and ask the guards about it, so they have a bit of honor, but this is a traitor they are hunting so honor isn't too much of the equation here.

Even though I'm convinced Kematu was telling the truth, I sided with Saadia because of her role at the Bannered Mare. If you sit down somewhere in the inn Hulda will call Saadia over to take your order. It's a nice little touch that adds to immersion, and since your choice doesn't affect anything else in the game I decided to keep her in Whiterun.

I sided with Saadia and now the 2 Ali'kir warriors are permanently stationed inside the gates of Whiterun. I think its time I took care of that...

Well Saadia is hot, very hot, so I side with her, and another reason for siding with her is so i can loot all the Alik'r warriors and get their awesome hammerfell clothes and scimitars, but later in the game i realised you can buy the hammerfell garb and alikr hood and redguard boots at the radiant rainment in solitude, and you get scimitars from some quest in i think the brotherhood or the thieves guild when u kill these guys on a boat.

So basically i started a new Redguard, so i could help the Alik'r, and then go buy all the Alik'r clothes. Boss.

But still Saadia is hot.

It's not possible to know which side is correct, but I believe what most of the posters are saying. I think Saadia is the one lying (or at least lying the most)

A bit thin skinned aren't you, OP? I help the Alik'r because I believe their story over Saadia's, and she's a traitor and Thalmor sympathizer.

I sided with Saadia because she offered more info to me than the Alk'r Warriors did when I tried to ask them about her.

And just because they don't kill her in front of you doesn't mean they're telling the truth. It's called keeping up appearances. If any of y'all get back to Hammerfell for her trial let me know. :P

Thinned skinned? LOL. I just want to know if they really wanted my help the Ali'kir are pretty flippant toward me, espically not giving me any info I need and they want my help? While I feel they are both lieing, it's hard to tell who is lieing the most.

They reveal alot more at the end if you help them, and if both parties are lying, the Ali'kir have alot more coherency in their lies then she does hers.

I'm gonna' side with them in another playthrough. Judging from what I've read in other threads about this quest I'm thinking they Alik'r are telling the truth.

I let the Alik'r have Saadia. I did go after them at first but they convinced me to give her up to them. The Alik`r made more sense.

This happened in my game too. I was wondering if it was a bug. It doesn't seem right for them to just stand there for the rest of eternity.

J'derras helped Saadia, because what kind of honorable Redguard warriors dedicated to "justice" hangs out in the same cave as bandits. Kinda fishy.

I see. Well if you know anything about the situation in Hammerfell at all, the idea of someone being run out of there for speaking out against the Thalmor is ludicrous. Especially when the ones looking for her are the redguards' most honorable warriors and bitter Thalmor haters.
