Times when you've been killed in one hit

Post » Sat Jun 09, 2012 2:39 pm

As a light armoured character, I often found myself being killed in one hit when I engaged in hand to hand combat with the enemy. For me, they happened:

1. In my earlier levels (6 or 7) when I was hunting a giant. In short I shot the giant, pissed it off and it chased after me, didn't run fast enough and was splattered to death by its giant club in one hit.

2. When I was attempting to kill a draugr deathlord front on for the first time (around level 30 or so). He was swinging an enchanted 2H axe, and got crit damage on me in the first hit. I don't need to tell you what happened after that.

3. Same thing as no. 2, except with a companion ghost, who IMO, was extremely overpowered for some reason.

4. When i faced an ancient dragon for the first time (around level 40). One firebreath from the dragon drained all of my health in a matter of seconds.

5. When I attempted to clear the karthspire camp. Got killed by some Forsworn mage who threw an ice spike at me whilst crouching.

6. On my first DiD character, who was mauled by a Sabre cat (got pounced on and literally died instantly).

And the list goes on...

Sabre Cat's early on made me VERY cautious when roaming the wilds and more than once made me take large detours to avoid them, still great fun though.;)

Not exactly one hit , but the briarheart leader at the top of the hill (dual wielding power attacks), before the Red Eagle dungeon. When I started, I think that was my first encounter with a briarheart.

To many times to count, last time was a dragon who came in fast and low and burned me, was killed by a trap before that.
On master you have to have fire/ frost protection

I normally play on expert and favor heavy armor so wjile it is possible I have been one-hit-killed I cannot remember when. I have been very close though.

Every-time a frost dragon decides he is hungry i am likely to get one-shotted, at level 35. Its like this: Dragon gets within biting distance and POOF; Finishing move on me...

Sabre cats early on, bandit chiefs with 2H maces to the face, and taking a full blast of fire from an ancient dragon.

Personnaly i love one hitters and one hitting, i often find my self with the difficulty down so enemys take less of a pounding, i wish the slider for difficulty was actully split in two, as currently all it effects is in/out damage if those where seperate, you could make it really deadly for everyone! thats what ive always wanted in fps n hacknslash. No seven head shots later, no multiple powerattacks with a battle axe to the back! i what to die when i screw up and i want my foes to die too! Damn it this will be a mod i look for when i get a pc.
Please Beth considers 2 damage sliders over 1 'difficulty' slider. Being able to taliour the your games to the players taste is what your all about, i just wish that included menu options and not just rp option?! Pretty plz! x

I walked into someone's cabin. Maybe Nelda? Did not have a chance to even say "HI!". One frost spell and my corpse was sliding across the floor.

A Dragon Priest taught me a valuable lesson in not charging at every enemy I see at a low level.

that whooshing ice spikey spell on the ground, not the spike. Its so ridiculously annoying when you got to get up close and personal.

Playing on master even a spider could 1 shot me for the longest time, but for the sake of this discussion I would say my most disappointing one hit death was dropping down thirteen feet with full health. Especially when I re-loaded and could drop down nine feet with no repercussions on my health, and twelve feet only took out a insignificant sliver of it.

It's too bad there aren't enough enemies like this though. I mean, out of different enemy types.

That happened to me with another ancient dragon. Got too close to it, and it swung me around in its mouth, like something out of a Jurassic Park movie. Yeah...I tend to die in one hit when facing ancient dragons :dead:

So I'm just outta Helgen and past the guardian stones, down the hill, I jump into that big lake. I'm swimming across and the compass shows three red dots. I think, hmmm, what is on the far shore maybe I should swim up carefully and sneak. Then I realize it's three large slaughter fish on my tail.

I swear I heard the Jaws theme, and I swam like hell and barely made it outta there! Whew
