Tips for creating an awesome looking male Dunmer?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:02 am

I am on 360, so of course I cannot edit my character at any time (the single most thing I miss about not having a PC rig).

I keep failing at making an awesome looking Dark Elf male.

Does anyone have any advice, such as which nose / mouth / brow types to choose, etc.?

Maybe some screen shots of theirs?

It has been tricky, because Dunmer have the incredibly gaunt jawline and reptile like forehead.

I want my character to look sinister and evil, but not like satan.

Could you be more specific? It's kinda hard to give good tips with just those basic descriptions.

The male Dunmer face is very contorted. Besides the brow and the huge bags under his eyes, he also has these weird bone protrusions around his eyes. Even if you select the nicest-looking nose, eyes, and mouth shapes, they are all being deformed by the facial features you can't change. My advice is just do the best you can and then just go with it. I'm pretty sure the Dunmer in this game (the males anyway...it's possible to make a pretty female Dunmer) are meant to be as ugly as sin.

There isn't a lot you can do to make male Dunmer not look at least a little evil. I created http://www.truancyfactory.com/mods/skyrim/warDog.html to try to create a Dunmer that didn't look like he'd snap in a strong breeze, but I've never tried to create a good-looking male Dunmer. There's also the http://www.truancyfactory.com/mods/skyrim/skyrim-loading-screen-characters.html.

Take off the eye shadow, I hated the appearance of the Dunmer until I realized it was the eye shadow causing all my dislike towards their look.

I too, based my Dunmer off of the Goraz creation.

I agree about the eye shadow making them look like they have raccoon eyes.

I have always felt that the LS Dunmer looked outstanding. I never knew how to attempt replicating him until now. Thank you kindly, for the link.

-High Cheekbones
-not too wide cheekbones
-That Nose
-That mouth
-Those eyes
-mid-large body size
-Topknot
-Dark Hair! White eyebrows look horrible. Almost like they are not even there.
-Dark Skin
-Use facepaints if you can
-A little tuny beard helps
-Some scars add character if you want
-Try to get the Jaw too look strong yet not too much so.

In order to keep the male Dunmer from looking gaunt and somewhat "satanic", try widening features like the jaw-line, chin,
cheekbones, and brow ridge.

I too am on 360 and can't take pics, but I currently have two male dark elves that look absolutely kick ass and probably like
what you're after.

The tips I just gave probably sound rather simplistic and boring, but when it comes to the Dunmer you have to think W -- I -- D -- E.

Basically, the general approach: Skip looking beautiful and great with a dunmer. Go 100% in for the bad4$$ look.

Pretty much the only real viable option though I think my Dunmer at least is not butt ass ugly. At least not like this...http://deltagamer.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/642696-dunmer_super1.jpg or http://static.fjcdn.com/pictures/Dumb+and+Dunmer.+Lloyd+I+am+going+to+kill+you_b2a2d1_3273434.jpg

It's a shame the Dunmer look so gaunt, I once killed an NPC that looked like Mr. T. and thought "Shame I can't make a Dunmer to look like him."

We can't all be this beautiful, dear child. In fact it comes at quite a cost.

I found this link helpful for creating characters. A lot of other helpful stuff there also.

http://j-u-i-c-e.hubpages.com/hub/better-looking-characters

I will admit though, I have given up on playing a Altmer, Bosmer or Dunmer as I just can't get over those pointed chins and slanted eyes.

I've managed to get my Dunmer to look like he's straight out of Morrowind, so I'm pretty happy with how he looks. I just tried to make him look strong, but old and weary.
http://images.uesp.net/c/cb/MW-npc-Darvam_Hlaren.jpg That's my character's face from Morrowind, and I had that in my mind while I tried to create him in Skyrim.

Reminds me of a Drow.

With elves i try to give their overly pointy features on low like chin and brow and cheekbones also i increase chin width and jaw width seems to make them look less decrepit

Heh, happens to me too, but with all races.
I suppose try to match the character to your play style, if you're making a warrior, give him a blind eye, maybe some scars and make him big.
If you wanna' be an assassin, or archer, give him long hair and short facial hair, and maybe make him skinnier.
Also, I stopped giving the characters tattoos, because after maybe 10 hours I realize that they no longer look as cool.

I don't know why the dunmer are the most hideous. They're described as a dark but beautiful people. They got the dark part right...

You're having trouble creating interesting Dunmer faces because you do not respect or appreciate their natural expression and therefore cannot take advantage of it.

Can't help with making a good looking Dark Elf, but I can make a female Orc that isn't ugly as sin.
