3 tips to improve your bow skills

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 11:39 am

What's wrong with you? Always, no matter where I go, there is one person (just one) who insists on having beef with me. I reviewed the posts again, there was no fault with my comment. I did not personally attack you, yet you retaliated by accusing me of being essentially [censored].

Everywhere YOU go someone has a beef with YOU? And YOU are asking ME what is wrong with me?

Perhaps you need to think about how you come across. You told me that my post was unconstructive. While you are entitled to hold and state your opinion, you must be aware that there are negative implications in what you are saying, and be prepared for a little pushback. Now, I felt that my post was not unconstructive. If you read on down you can see that the conversation was actually progressed by my question, so you might even say it was constructive.

Your comment was ill thought out, ill judged, and wrong. You also say you read back over it, perhaps do that again and consider why you so often meet people with a beef with you. I'm not saying my response was measure and appropriate, but hey. You called my post out, I called you out. I am surprised that you are not more comfortable with this scenario as from what you say it is one with which you are well acquainted.

I bear you no ill will. I will smile when I see your posts in the future. I have no beef with you. My attitude to you is vegan. You may continue to crusade with impunity.

I didn't use practice dolls, I didn't activate stones yet my archery skill rose very quickly anyway. The OP contains a few valid suggestions, though I'd like to add a few more:

-Bandit Archers... leave them for last (usually they don't cause too much troubles) and engage them from distance.
-Use cheap and plentiful iron/nord arrows whenever possible. Not only they cannot be resold (their value is 0) but a target will need more hits to be killed
-If you're going to fight a hard enemy go into a position which is difficult to reach and use it to your advantage: this way you can use your bow 3-4 times instead of 1-2 before switching to melee.
-Most magic users will also try to keep distance... one more reason to use your bow!

Have fun! :)

Wow... Not at all did I expect such a useful reply. I actually feel more inclined to thank you than feel angry for having been insulted. I concede that you were correct and will consider your wisdom in the future. Sorry for having started this minor dispute. I guess I wasn't ready to accept that I actually was lacking in perceptiveness and reasoning capability.

I have had three dragon encounters with my character so far, all of which were brought down with some well placed arrows

I am not sure if you are being serious or not. Nevertheless, what you are saying here is 100% accurate so either way I'm happy :)

Update: put a link in for the arrowcraft mod. Not only does it only make sense that you can craft arrows, it also helps your arrow ratio.

Note: If your against modifications or have something against the mod just ignore that little part and focus on the rest of the post. Thanks.

I still maintain that I see little value in the first method. The second two are good though.

I made this point earlier but it was swallowed in a reply I was making to another user:

"In my experience if you pull the bow back far enough the arrow hits whatever the reticule is over, every time, at any range."

Therefore aiming at a stationary target with no XP reward is of questionable value. But I suppose someone completely new to the franchise who has never used a bow might get something out of it.

Does hitting an enemy in the back or sides give any bonus damage?

Doesnt say so in the manual, but then the manual and game lack a lot of info and stats for my liking compared to other games.

Nope. However, they do seem to go down earlier if you shoot them in the head. (Or is this a placebo? confirm, someone :P )

Also, there is always the sneak damage :-)

Pretty sure that there is no location damage on any of the enemies/characters/creatures.

I see. Either way, if someone has useful tips i will add them to the list, since this topic is becoming more and more popular.

Also feel free to stay commenting on the existing ones :-)
