Tips That I Find Useful

Hey fellow BRINK players!

So I'm not making this because I feel like I'm better than everyone else. I want to make this so that maybe, and possibly, it can encourage some other people to think of new ways and ideas to take down their enemies. Also it'd be nice for good players to even give ME some tips and advice, so this thread is more about players offering what they have to the community that they have found worthy of a good tip :) (Also, note that I've pulled some of these tips from other players so I don't take credit for all of them, I am just passing information along)

1. Don't worry about K/D
The game does not even give you a whole lot for killing a crap ton of people. You may get an award for most kills, but what does that do you? Pretty much nothing. Don't worry about dying, and yeah I know it can be frustrating (I've had my share of frustration) but you've just got to shrug it off and move along. If you have a good team behind you, someone ought to be there to pick you up anyway.

2. Use melee effectively
When I first started playing this game, I thought melee was terrible....but then I got good at it. Trust me, learn to use melee. It is very effective in combat, and even adds to the whole "frantic combat" that SD was going for. You can slide tackle and use a normal melee attack to knockdown enemies and from there it's pretty much just spray them.

3. Learn to tactically switch weapons
This is something I learned from playing this game: of course weapon switching is faster than reloading! This has been a main focus for many FPS's, and is no different here. This can also go back to tip 2, because if you have a pistol, your knife does a lot more damage than a normal melee attack.

4. Use hip fire
I also had to learn this for myself. I was always trying to aim down the sights but the main flaw with this is mobility. Yeah you get more accurate, but hip fire on this game is actually very very useful. You stay mobile and for the most part, accuracy is not a huge loss.

5. BUFF BUFF BUFF
This may be one of the most important tips that ANYONE should know anyway. BUFF EVERYONE. Buff your team mates, buff yourself, buff everyone. This gains you more XP (more so than killing) and you also are helping your team complete various tasks. Throw out those buffs!

6. Use the Objective Wheel
This is kind of obvious...use your wheel! You actually gain more XP using this wheel, so why not use it?

7. "Stomp" people >:D
I don't care if people call me a [censored] for this, but if you are able to, just melee a downed enemy. This prevents them from being revived and can help your team make a huge game changing push.

8. Take out the medics
If you see a medic, take him out. Medics are so useful on teams it's ridiculous, so just take them out first so that they can't revive team mates or buff them. Strategically taking out foes is best.

9. Play the game how YOU want to
I don't mean this by "I want to piss people off so I'm going to camp!". I mean this as choose whatever body type you want and set up your classes however you want to. I catch a lot of flak for this, and yes there are some skills I don't have because of the way I set up my characters, but don't listen to stupid idiots. Usually, you see a heavy medic. I play as a light medic usually and I enjoy it just fine. I set up my characters to play as ANY class and this makes the game the most fun for me because I can play as anything and it never gets old. So play it how you want to.

10. Never stop moving!
This is kind of obvious too, but this game has an emphasis on moving. Moving makes you a harder target, and it can distract the enemy. You have parkour, use it. Moving around is what the game is focused on so do it!

The list goes on and on about what you can do to help your team and get better at the game. These are just a few tips that I hope can help you move along in the game! Also, if you want to add anything to the list, be my guess, because I'm into improving just as much as anybody is :)

I like to switch to my secondary(scoped pistol usually) to bleed out targets that are too far away to melee.
BTW I run my medic as a light body as well since i like to be able to get to down comrades quickly.

Here's one that should be common knowledge, but you'd be surprised how few people actually do it. And that's STAY WITH YOUR TEAM!!! I've been in more games with randoms that they spray all over the map, then I see all of their names on the obituary as getting taken out 1 after the other. You're far more effective as a group then you are going solo. Hell, you actually get MORE XP for attacking in a group then you do by yourself. (Solo kill, 5 XP. Group kill, 30XP) It's just plain "smart" (pun intended) to stick close to your squad, because when you have more guns aimed at them then they have aimed at you, usually you win the fire fight.

That's not a pun bro, just a kinda bad reference.
A pun involves a joke or actual wordplay.... It's just plain smart is actually a phrase...

light medic? yeah, good idea. medics and operatives need the mobility provided by light, while a soldier is necessary to keep a heavy gun loaded. i didnt get the emp grenade, because the uav just seems so much... better.

Here's a few:

1. The soldier's Kevlar ability is 'invisible', but it still affects you. The engineer's extra Kevlar (as of now) can still be given to a soldier with the Kevlar ability, allowing even more protection.

2. Camping WILL get you killed. If you plan on sniping, make sure to move around a LOT. The accuracy of certain guns (namely assault rifles) over range is borderline OP in the hands of a trained marksman. I've sniped quite a few people with a Rhett AR from a good 200 yards away.

3. If you care about your own life, buff yourself FIRST. you run out of pips very fast, so before you realize you haven't buffed your own gun/life/ammo, your out of pips, and have to wait until it recharges.

4. As a medic, people flock towards your Field Regen Unit. Be sure not to place it out in the open, unless there's another medic and a Gotlung-wielding heavy to protect it. Otherwise you'll be responsible for quite a few deaths.

5. As a soldier, you have the 'give ammo' buff. On standard mode, there's no public VOIP. If someone is standing in front of you, hitting you in the face or jumping up and down, press the button that gives out ammo- the semi-transparent black bar that hovers above his head is a sign that means that he has no ammo, other than his sidearm.

I would disagree on buff yourself first. I just see that as selfish.

You can sit back and wait for your pip to regen and use that on yourself fairly quickly, your team mates cannot, so buffing all of them and having you sit back means you can have more team mates on the ground with a bonus than the other team, because of you die in the mean time after buffing yourself you aren't able to give a buff to the guy who could've shot your killer.

As Soldier now that I have Scavenge (waited till 24) it's not so bad, but before, I would always be running around looking for an engineer to give ammo to if my ammo was low and I had 1 pip, because A) engineer probably has a selfishly buffed weapon and I dont, B) he can't refill his own, C) He's therefore better on the front line than me who can run to a CP to restock temporarily.

It's all situational, but giving out ammo and health buffs, your priority shouldn't be yourself.

Here's my suggestion

Soldier (Ammo)
Priority 1 - Whoever's lowest
Priority 2 - Heavies (run out of ammo quicker and have the biggest guns)

Medic (Health/Revive)
Priority 1 - On the path to the Primary Objective
Priority 2 - Yourself (no good to anyone dead!)

Engineer (Damage)
Priority 1 - Soldiers (they will probably have the best weapons besides yourself)
Priority 2 - Medics (when you come to get saved, you want the guy saving you to win the gunfight)
