Titles- SHould this make a return in skyrim?

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 3:42 pm

So you know how in Oblivion you had a whole separate tab devoted to all of your titles and so forth? Well I was really upset that it was missing from this game, is it possible they could return? I know it is not likely, though something could happen.

Someone thought it would be too "spreadsheety" and too "RPGey" I guess. Skyrim was aimed toward the younger console crowd. Epic, uber-leet heroes don't have time to look at tabs, you know.

I've got it on PC. I RP.

I think a tab for titles is silly. I wouldn't complain if it existed, but it feels like it highlights a little too well the absurd amount of accomplishments the Dovahkiin can achieve. It also doesn't seem particularly necessary, to me; you should know in your head what your character's title is. That's how I see it.

I at least would love some crest to put in homes for being the leader of a certain guild.

Yes. I'd also like a faction page in your journal or inventory like in Oblivion. As well as an image of what your character currently looks like.

I'd only want it back if they brought back the MW guild system, otherwise it is just far too easy to be head of all the guilds and get all the title, but i doubt they'll do that in DLC or in future TES game by the looks of things.
Plus they'd have to find somewhere just to put it, i dont think its worth it just to be looking through all your stats on the start menu just to find another bit of writing or two.

Given the number of complaints about Skyrim's guilds we can expect some improvement in that area in TES VI. So here's hoping.

There was a number of complaints about how they changed from MW to OB aswell -admitedly only from the Morrowinners- .. and then they went and hacked it apart more..
I think Beth is great and all, but she does have a funny way of responding to complaints and what fans ask for ..
But yes, heres to hope.

Well Bethesda is a business. The fans who come on forums to complain about a lack of depth and such actually make up a pretty small amount of total sales. Simplicity sells games these days unfortunately, so I don't see the next ES being much more complex.

I do - it will be on the next generation of hardware. So some previous limitations will be gone.

Yes but the market will not have drastically changed. Customers (the majority of at least) will still want simplicity. So we might have a much larger game but it will probably be as streamlined (if not more, if that's even possible) than Skyrim.

Nah, sounds just like rant to me. If the "younger console uber-leet generation" who play COD all day like something, it's titles and accolades. Skyrim got achievements for this reason, as many other games, a separate tab for this in-game would be great for this target audience. And although I'm not so young and I play Skyrim on PC, I would love that too, and I am an achievement-[censored].

Just to have some real rankings in the factions would be nice. Having to EARN your rankings as you work your way to the top would be very nice. Having skill requirements to earn each rank would be EXCELLENT. It just turns my stomach knowing that a 10th level warrior can become the leader of the Mages Guild. But guess what, if you want to get all the Word Walls, or finish that dang amulet quest that's been stuck in your journal forever, you have to do it.

Honestly the simplification of the whole faction system (if you can even call it that) all but kills role-playing in this game. Seems everything I do to role-play in this game I have to pretend is happening as the game is designed for some CoD kid to run one character through everything in the game at light speed (before heaven forbid he gets too bored).

Ok, yeah, that was a rant. I feel a little better now...
