Today in my travels.

I discovered a lot of cool stuff today. usually i just use a code and get all the locations discovered, but with this char i was like no cheating this time. So i went out and explored a little (im also a survival char so i was looking for food and junk) and really discovered some cool locations and places of interest

A few things that i discovered as an area south of Novac that was just crawling with big horn, ripe for killin and cookin. The area also had a abundance of broc flower. Then i went even further south and found a unmarked rad-scorpion cavern. In which i killed the queen. I got a ton of glands from the journey into the caverns. I walked a little further and found a cavern with a ton of night stalkers, including their den mother. So i found some great farming spots for the future. Also two other things id like to clarify. The area b/w the 188 trading post and New vegas has alot of barrel cactus and the area surrounding Boulder City had a lot of this one plant i cant remember the name for. You need this plant to make tanned hides.

I also decided to make this guy a salavger ontop of being heavily invested in survival. I found that the extra caps perk and ammo perk in contains really helps. I was finding between 50 and 100 caps in filing cabinets and desk in random locations. Really cool stuff.

The Scrounger and Fortune Finder perks are probably 2 of the most essential in the game. Most of the time, I find caps ranging from 25-75 in almost every filing cabinet I come across, and maybe about 40 5.56mm rounds in most ammo boxes.

Wow. I hadn't thought of taking those perks.
Does the scrounger ever give you hits on rare ammo types (.50/45-70/12.7) or do you just get buttloads of 9mm/5.56/etc?

Both useless perks.
You will have both ammo and caps, more than you can carry, by the time you hit Level30 anyway...

Yeah both of those perks are a waste I'm at LV 28 and I have over 125,000 Caps.

Caps are ridiculous. Bump up your luck to 8, and spam blackjack

Not to get into a pissing match, but I agree that scavenger is a useless perk. In fallout 3, after I applied it, I began finding rediculous amounts of ammo everywhere, transforming me into a walking gun store. It was cool then because it didnt weigh you down and you could sell it all later, but now with hardcoe mode (which is the best thing to come to fallout since 3D graphics, by the way...) its hard to make full use of that perk. On the other hand, caps is something I'm having a difficult time getting enough of this time through so the fortune finder might work out very nicely :)

I agree with you about weight, but if you're short on caps and have an abundance of ammo, just sell the ammo? Then you'll have more caps and less ammo.
