I TOLD YOU ABOUT DLC BUGS BRO!

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 12:47 am

I had been having problems with the quest "Come Fly With Me" regarding the DLC loading problems and all that upon completing the quest. I had a save right before I went up to the launch deck and that loaded fine and I figured, "Hey, I'll just wait to turn the quest in until they fix the bug!" so I left the area, explored some vaults, grabbed a bunch of loot, did a couple quests, and went up four levels. Figuring the glitch was something of the past, I only kept 2 save files, both very close in play time to each other. But upon going to the brothel in Freeside for a quest (and I'm not totally sure if this is the exact point that the files were corrupted) and saving, failing a pickpocket, and loading the save beforehand, I got the same error message. So my guess would be this isn't isolated to just a few quests. It could be contained in many of the quests, maybe the majority of them? (1.) Anyways, I've got a save file in one of the casinos about two hours before this that works. I just hope when they patch this that that file and character aren't doomed to experience the DLC glitch regardless of the patch. I'm 30 some hours in with a bunch of good gear (custom variations of weapons, that sort of thing), and starting over isn't an option for me. I figured while I'm here I'd also kindly ask the employees of Obsidian or Bethesda to give us eager Xbox 360ians an update on when the patch for this is going to come out, even if it's just a rough estimate. And also from reading my description located at (1.) if you don't feel like reading the whole thing if you think my character is salvageable. Thanks in advance!

i have the same problem after 37 hours into the game but i made it way past this quest so really it can happen at anytime, but i have spoke with one of the developers and he said there working on the issue but unfortunately paches and updates dont fix things like corrupt files but he did say hang on to the saved files because their is a chance they might work after the patches, and no i didnt get a dead line or any idea on when these patches will be finished or released.anyways hoped that helped n im am definitely not thrilled about starting over but i have seen an EXP glitch in vault 11 that just might make it worth it after the patch but idk i really want my save file im way too far in the game just to start all over again:(
so really we have to rely on hope for the next patch to fix our save files :(

obliviously these things take time (time that could have been spent pre-release), but nonetheless they take time. i was wondering when they were first alerted to the issue, as to get more of an idea when it could be fixed. also if you have corrupted files and you keep them but you start a new game will the new game become affected by the bug instantly or will it just be triggered on new file separately?

Wow, there are a lot of badass little things you can put on this. I hope you all like my little compilation of faces. But that's not why I posted. I posted because I've noticed that this bug seems to be brought on randomly for most people and one definite cause cannot be pin-pointed. I believe that the problem that causes the bugs is the actual game itself and probably 9 times out of 10 your new file is destined to have atleast one of these issues.

Yes and those lucky people who don't have any major problems really don't understand how lucky they are because they are a severe minority in all of this.

What's really, really sad about these bugs, is on their blog thing or whatever, they admit that they knew about all these glitches pre-release. But big boss man said go ahead and launch the game on such and such date....bureaucratics makes me sick I swear.

Holy crap in a hand basket! Is that really true? You have got to send a link for me to check that out, I have got to see that with my own eyes. Which 'boss man' are we talking about? Head of Obsidian or head of Bethesda? If it is head of Obsidian then I told you all that it was all Obsidian's fault. If it was 'boss man' from Bethesda then I apologize for I was wrong on that. But send that link nonetheless for I must review this.

Alright. Ill try to find the link. It was from Friday I think, I encountered the bug Thursday afternoon, and was about to take the game back, figuring faulty disc, when I ran into the phenomenon that I is going on with just about 90% of the F:NV gamers on 360.

Oh yes indeed. Like I mentioned in previous posts on here that these problems are vast and unimaginably worse than most suspect and the very few without problems are too lucky.

We've got our teams investigating this save issue that you're discussing. As soon as I have any information to share with you guys on updates, I'll let you know. If you've missed it, here's what our senior producer wrote on the matter late last week:

On consoles, we are aware that a small group of 360 users are seeing a DLC warning which is preventing you from loading save games. We are absolutely looking into this bug now, along with other reports of save game corruption. It is our highest priority right now that we find out what is causing it. In the meantime, we recommend you save often, and revert to an older save if this occurs.

Somehow, I doubt that. With how many units that got sold (as it's topping the sales charts in both the UK and US, we call that a '[censored]load') and with how many UNIQUE complaints (a lot of people are posting twice or more), you could generously estimate 5-10% of users are experiencing MAJOR (read: gamebreaking) bugs. This doesn't include minor bugs (graphical glitches, etc.) You guys just happen to be an extremely vocal minority. The truth is that for every post saying "dis [censored] be broke" there are two replies saying "sorry, works fine for me."

They will fix the issues. Personally, I'd rather have a kick-ass game with problems than a POS game that runs flawlessly.

Somehow I seriously doubt that considering I've been up and down this and for every twenty posts of someone agreeing with a break there is one person saying he doesn't know what anyone is talking about. Seems like you got it backwards.

The way I look at it, the people NOT having any issues, are not going online and posting anything, no need to. They are to busy playing and enjoying the Vegas wasteland! haha. But whats killing me is, if its not playable in a week. I'd like my money back, or at least a replacement. I dont like that I payed 60 bucks for it to sit on my tv stand taunting me!

My point on sales vs. actual complaints still stands. On top of that, [censored]ing about the bugs doesn't make them go away.

"OhNoItsTommyGunn" has a good point, I never thought of it that way. Also I don't recall me [censored]ing about it considering that I am not [censored]ing about it at all whatsoever so you kind of need your facts straight there. I am stating observational facts based on what threads and replies have been posted on these forums. I got my facts straight and I keep it on the straight with calmness and respect which you may need some counseling on.

Not to mention not everyone with an issue is going to take time out of their busy schedule to get on a forum where they can be told there wrong and not to complain by people who know nothing of which they speak of since they are part of the minority that hasn't had problems. Just pointing that out. I get on here to observe and help whoever I can because I have had plenty of problems and instead of coming on here "[censored]ing" as you like to disrespectfully put it I like to see if I can point out a few fixes and help a poor soul out.

My apologies, I wasn't aiming that particular comment at anyone in particular. It was supposed to be a generalization.

Thank you, I am pleased that you are reasonable and nice. It's refreshing to see some tact and professionalism on a forum. As respect to your apology I will leave this forum and give it to the "Prospectors".

as an update,

bethesda has announced they have found a fix and are testing the patch that will contain the fix on all three systems
note: the save problem is only on xbox but it is being released inside another patch which is coming out on all systems
