Too late to start leveling smithing?

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 5:24 am

I'm currently playing a level 40 dunmer assassin build using Mehrunes Razor and Blade of Woe. Is it worth at this point to work on smithing? Leveling has slowed to a crawl at this point and I don't want to waste the time if its going to be a chore.

Levelling smithing actually speeds up character levelling (since it's based on skill levels).

Considering the iron dagger super leveling was unintentionally made for your situation, I'd say it's worth checking out if for nothing more than to experience it. (if you haven't yet)

just get the 10% rested bonus and lots of materials for smithing and it will be fine (bit of a chore) but not too bad

Well, if you're like my assassin, smithing won't really help. Without upgraded weapons, I'm one-shotting everything I fight and I don't have any problems staying undetected.

There's no reason not to take it. I would only strongly recommend it if you want to get out of the assassin playstyle, wading into melee, or if you want to start sniping with your bow. Legendary daedric bow + stealth ~ unupgraded blade of woe + stealth.

i'm just collected all the ore i find in dungeons, converting all of the iron and silver into gold with transmute, and stowing it away with my charged soul gems for my future smithing/enchanting grind. IMO the grind is a lot more meaningful if you're not buying everything from vendors (although i certainly have enough cash at this point).

I also believe the warrior stone holds sway over smithing so use that and it will give you another 25% bonus.

Thanks for the reply guys. Yea I'm mainly utilizing sneak attacks and I'm basically one shotting most enemies as well. I guess I wanted to mess around with it for fun. Is iron daggers the best way to go for leveling? Also is the warrior's stone good to use too?
