F.O.N.V. or MW?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:31 am

If this is out of place, all apologies as I couldn't find a topic relating to it. Should I trade F.O.N.V. straight up for Morrowind? I realise NV is worth more $$ but it also bored me to tears and left me utterly confused.
Maybe the Apocolyptic Wasteland just bummed me out? I have over 400 hrs. in Skyrim and I'm addicted to it like a drug. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Personally, I wouldn't touch FO:NV with a ten-foot-pole. So my answer would be: "Yes."

Then I'm guessing you'd go into cardiac arrest if your in the same room as a Fallout 3 game case?

PC version?

You should definitely trade it for the PC version of Morrowind. If it's the xbox version, you should not trade and just get the PC version separately. Any modern computer will be able to run it fine and then you get better controls and ability to use mods. I'd suggest at least getting "oblivion-style spellcasting" and MGE for the distant land, and Morrowind code patch.

Why? What about FO3? New Vegas is like the Morrowind to FO3 to me. In my opinion.

Yes, I think Morrowind is way more interesting.

Not a fan either, but it's impossible to say whether you'd like it or not. I felt New Vegas was just an expansion for Fallout 3 once I'd played it, there was nothing new about the game. Give Morrowind a try though, you might be impressed especially if you load up the eye candy mods...

If you can't handle NV, there is no way in hell that you're going to be able to handle Morrowind. If a game that points you in a straight line is too complicated, well, good luck getting anywhere with Morrowind. I suspect that if you found NV boring you'd also find Morrowind much more boring, as Morrowind is far more slowly paced than NV in every regard. So I'd say no. It doesn't sound like deeper RPG's are the sort of game you'd like.

I agree. For someone to hate New Vegas that much, Fallout 3 must literally seem radioactive.

Morrowind.

However, if NV left you confused, Morrowind will have you running for a copy of Pac Man. Oh, and get the PC version, and use mods to make the controls, combat, and maybe even graphics better. I don't mind the old school ones so much, but most people find it too dated.

But like I said, it sounds as though complex and non-linear RPGs aren't your thing. Morrowind is more of each of those things than NV.

So keep NV and just buy MW from GameStop? I have so much to learn of TES history but I just like the feel of the story and world so much more than "The Wasteland"

That's like trading a Sapphire for a ruby when you could be trading a lump of coal for a ruby.

Keep both. New Vegas is the first game since Morrowind that Bethesda's published (though not produced) that felt like a true RPG. Find something else to trade.

Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, are essentially Morrowind and Oblivion in a different setting, and theme. Same graphics engine, and the interface controls are very similar. Mod interface is identical. NV was just Obsidian taking Bethesda's engine and game concept.

Was it just the story of New Vegas that was confusing? The setting maybe? A friend of mine didn't like the Fallout games because they weren't serious enough for him. Too many humorous story elements and events. But that was one of the things I loved. Genre satire. And 3 and NV get pretty dark.

Morrowind was AWESOME though, don't get me wrong. When it first loaded up, and shoved me off the prison ship, I hated it. I didn't know what to do or where to go. It pissed me off. I was standing there in Seyda Neen going, "um...ok...what?" I was so used to linear RPG games, it made me mad to have to play a non-linear game. For about 1 day. Then I loved it. Once it finally sunk in.

Morrowind was revolutionary for that. That makes it one of the greatest games of all time. But, what i'd suggest is, play them both. Don't do one or the other, do both. I think New Vegas will grow on your, if you give it a chance. The biggest difference between the Fallout games and the Elder Scroll games is mainly, just the setting/theme. A somewhat satirical sci-fi game, and Elder Scrolls a sword and sorcery game. But reallly just the same thing. Use different guns and grenades, instead of different spells. I was so psyched when I found out Bethesda was doing Fallout 3, after 10 years from Fallout 2. And it was the Morrowind/Oblivion company. Tjhe're both great.

What's confusing about New Vegas?

It's an awesome game. Keep it.

I wouldn't recommend getting Morrowind, it's also very confusing and the gameplay mechanics are pretty bad

Morrowind is my favorite Bethesda title, it's a classic, it's a great RPG that features a very detailed and alien world to explore. I also enjoyed New Vegas, but I prefer the magic fantasy settings and stories. I'd rather recommend both games for their inherent (great) value, not one opposed to the other.

Out of these two I prefer Morrowind, but like others said, they are both great rpgs for their time and don't deserve to be traded.

Why trade? Morrowind is like 6 bucks maximum at a post office.

And Morrowind isn't much of a game just on gameplay nowadays, it's a world you live in. If roleplaying and exploration bored you in NV then Morrowind is going to be worse.

If you're that fed up with NV then why not? You've got little to lose and I think you'll enjoy Morrowind a lot. It'll take some getting use to of course (especially the combat at lower levels) but I don't think you'll regret it.

And if you're on PC then you'll have hours of fun with the mods alone.

This has nothing to do with Skyrim and in any case, "VS." topics are not permitted.
