Tour my brother's Skyrim-themed basemant!

Post » Thu Oct 04, 2012 7:18 am

My brother and I are undoubtedly two of the biggest Skyrim fans in the world. As proof of this, my brother (who happens to be Tyler Kirkham of DC Comics fame) recently designed & completed his basemant with a Skyrim theme. Trust me when I say this was a work of pure love and admiration for the game. Naturally I couldn't resist taking pics to show you guys, and I'm sure you will appreciate it... I couldn't contain the goosebumps when I first saw the finished result last night. He even had the Skyrim soundtrack playing. gstaff, a link on bethblog.com would certainly rock. This work deserves to be shown!! Now, onto the tour... (pics taken in normal lighting because I was using my phone)

A nice view of the den area. Note the Skyrim logo on the shield and the items on the table.

A stack of clutter like you'd see in the game. Whiterun grain!

The coffee table. Laminated Skyrim map, official art book, gold coin from the Oblivion Collector's Edition and misc. coins.

A barrel and a custom-built chair by my dad fit for a jarl.

Up close view of the Skyrim shield. Basketball hoops in the background... gotta have some modern amenities!

A view of the kitchen area. Cabinets made from old fence wood. Note the items hanging from above.

All it needs is a dead rabbit and some fish!

Mortar & pestle, coins, and some misc. ingredients.

Cool crawl space for the kids. Note the cracked wall effect of the paint job.

Cool wall decorations. Not found in Skyrim, but still adds to the feel.

Clutter in the corner. Treasure chest, sword.... Elder Scroll?!

Bookshelf. Maybe there's a copy of the Lusty Argonian Maid?

More clutter. More scrolls!

This one is really impressive... these candles are all over the game. This one flickers all the same.

A view of the cracking wall effect near the basketball hoops.

Fireplace and mantle. That helmet should look familiar.

View of the bookcase and the doors hiding the media closet.

A bedroom door inspired by the doors in the game.

Another door. Same ridiculous quality.

Better view of the mantle & helmet, along with trinkets.

Saved the best for last. Map marker into the room itself.

So, what do you guys think? Gotta give a shout out to my bro for the stellar job and tribute to the game. Another one to Bethesda.... you guys are the BEST in the business!

It's pretty bright, I think I would have taken the pics with candlelight only on a low flash setting to make it look less modern.

Haha, oh my... I don't really get the Skyrim vibe from the place, but it's still pretty impressive. You need one of the Skyrim chests, an alchemy table, and other highly recognizable props.
