I have just got off the phone with UK trading standards.

They have informed me that because Bethesda are based in the US, we in the UK have no recourse with them regarding a refund.
However, under UK consumer law, we can return our faulty software to the retailer that sold us them,as the product is not fit for purpose, whether it was their fault or not.

You are then entitled to a FULL REFUND, not a replacement.

This course of action is theoretically possible for up to 6 years from purchase.
It would then be up to the retailer to take action against Bethesda if they so desired.

Proof of purchase is neccessary, obviously.

So anyone unhappy enough with their game, don't trade in and get short changed...get your money back,all of it.

It is very annoying in a weird way. I really really wanted New Vegas to be a major sales success like it has been. But for a game with such serious technical and lethal/unpredictable bugs that can destroy the game....I am so confused on how to feel about the high figure sale numbers now. And I consider myself a bit of a "really devoted fan" of Fallout.

Theres this paranoia that we are going to start seeing this non-bug testing policy happen a lot more frequently now with all sorts of games from differnt publishers. I know there are other games out there that are not well bug tested before release......but this case is more extreme and a green light for any company to now think "why bother bug testing our game when the players will do it for us and it still sells millions?" Even publishers that normally release well fixed games on release date can now use this notion. Its just the general message this whole New Vegas situation has sent out. There is no law, or a law thats actually enforced against it.

That whole statement they released yesterday about the "Dead Money" DLC and not even mention anything at all about the issues with the main game just kind of says it all.

If they can get away with this...then so can any publsher.

i agree and tomarrow my copie is going back and buying a game i don't have to wait to play as this kind of crap is just out of order and all those saying that as we are getting a DLC so we can't complain they can go and blow them selves

I mean ya they got to meet the deadline for the dlc, they dont have time to waste on patching, holiday seasons coming up.




lol Honestly though, what do you mean they said we cant complain becasue of the dlc? Are we getting it for free when they finaly patch this thing?
